Wasps nesting too close to your home can pose a danger to family members and pets. You can buy wasp traps, but they often stick and are difficult to place. Instead, make your own reusable wasp trap from a plastic bottle and put in some bait like meat, sugar, or dish soap. With this homemade wasp trap you will not only be able to easily catch the wasps, but it is also easy to set up or hang and maintain.

1. Tape the wasp trap back up and fill it with new bait. Unlike traditional sticky wasp traps, this homemade wasp trap can be used multiple times. You just need to prepare more bait mixture and fill the trap with it.
   • Also, apply more olive oil or petroleum jelly if you have greased the inside of your trap with it.
   • If there is a rotting or sour smell from the trap, rinse it with hot water before adding more bait. If the trap continues to stink, create another wasp trap or put vinegar in the trap to reduce the odor.

Necessities

• Soda bottle with a volume of two liters
• Utility knife or scissors to cut or cut the bottle
• Hole puncher
• Packing tape or duct tape
• Rope of 30 centimeters long
• Water
• Liquid dish soap
• Sugar, lemon juice, vinegar, meat fat or leftover meat
• Olive oil or petroleum jelly (optional)

Tips

• This is a way to reduce the number of wasps and not get rid of all the wasps unless you catch a queen. The only way to keep the wasps away from your home is to remove the wasp nest. If you would like to have the nest removed, call a professional to do this job safely for you.

Warnings

• Don't trap honey. This way, you are more likely to attract bees than wasps.
• Do not hang the trap near a place where children and pets often come. The wasps will be attracted to the trap, so it is best not to hang it in a place in your yard where people and pets often come.
• Be careful when handling the wasps and releasing them. Even when a wasp is dead, the sting still works and you can be stung by it. Get medical help right away if you are allergic to wasps and are stung one or more times. Even if you are not allergic to wasp stings, you may need medical attention if you are stung multiple times.
