Skype is an application for Macs, PCs, tablets and smartphones that allows users to make free voice and video calls with other Skype users or with traditional phones for a fee. You can also use the service to have completely free video conferences, but the participants must have Skype installed on their device and have a camera that is suitable for video. This article will show you exactly how to hold a video conference via Skype.

To step

1. Go to the Skype download page.
2. Select which version of Skype to download from the list of compatible devices and operating systems.
3. Click on "Download Skype".
4. Install Skype on your device.
5. Start Skype and sign in with your Skype account.
   • Click here to create an account if you don't have one yet.
6. Select an online contact from your contact list.
   • Add contacts by selecting "Add a contact" at the top right of your contact list and entering a Skype username.
7. Select "Video Call" to start a video call.
8. Click the "+" sign and then click "Add people" to add more Skype contacts to the video conference. You can add up to 24 people to the conference (25 with you).

Tips

• Test and see if everything works.
• Make sure video calling is turned on by opening your Skype application settings and turning on video.
• You can select preferences for video, such as whether or not your contacts can see that you have video enabled in the application settings under "Video".

Warnings

• Skype video conferencing is only available to people who have downloaded the Skype application on their device and who have a camera that is suitable for video.
