A phone case can contain dirt particles, dust particles and bacteria, so it is important that you clean your own case regularly. Fortunately, you can easily clean your phone case, just with soap and water. You can also regularly disinfect your phone case with rubbing alcohol and remove stains with baking soda. When you're done, your phone case will look brand new again.

To step

Method 1 of 3: Clean with dish soap

  1. Take your phone out of the case. Never try to clean your phone case with your phone in it.Water can get into the openings and damage your phone. Put your phone where it won't get wet.
    • If your phone case has plastic and silicone components, separate the two parts. Pull the flexible silicone part out of the hard plastic part on the outside of the case.
  2. In a bowl, mix 250 ml of warm water with a drop of washing-up liquid. Do not use more than a drop of soap. Using too much soap will cause your mixture to foam too much. Stir thoroughly with a spoon through the soap and water mixture.
  3. Dip a new, clean toothbrush into the soapy water. If you don't have a new toothbrush, use a clean cloth. Stir the soapy water with the bristles of the toothbrush to get them wet.
  4. Scrub the surface of the phone case with the toothbrush. Scrub with back and forth or circular motions, treating any cracks and nooks that are difficult to reach. Clean both the plastic part and the silicone part of the phone case. Make sure to clean the outside and the inside of the case.
  5. Rinse and dry the case with a soft cloth. Make sure you have rinsed all soap residue off the case before you dry it. Dry the case with a soft cloth so that the case does not get scratched.
  6. Let the phone case dry for at least an hour. Let the case dry well and do not put your phone back in the case too early. Even if the case feels dry to the touch, there may still be water on it and damage your phone. Put your phone back in the clean case after an hour.
    • Clean the phone case with soap and water when it looks dirty and you see stains on it.

Method 2 of 3: Disinfect your phone case

  1. Remove the case from your phone. Do not attempt to sanitize the case with the phone in it. The sanitizer can get into your phone and damage it. If your phone case consists of several parts, take them apart by pulling the inner part out of the hard outer part of the case.
  2. Soak part of a soft cloth in rubbing alcohol. Use rubbing alcohol with a strength of 70% or more. If the rubbing alcohol you use is in a spray bottle, you can spray it right onto the case and you don't need to use a cloth.
  3. Wipe the cover with the cloth with alcohol. Wipe both the plastic part and the silicone part of your phone case with the cloth. Make sure to treat the inside and outside of the phone case with rubbing alcohol.
  4. Wipe off the rubbing alcohol with a dry, soft cloth. Try to wipe off rubbing alcohol as much as possible. When you're done, the phone case should feel almost completely dry.
  5. Wait an hour before putting your phone back in the case. Place the case where it can air dry for an hour. When an hour has passed, put your phone back in the case.
    • Make it a habit to sanitize your phone at least once a month to keep it clean.

Method 3 of 3: Remove stubborn stains

  1. Take your phone out of the case. When cleaning your phone case with liquid, it is important to take your phone out first so that it does not get damaged. If your phone case consists of several parts, take them apart by pulling the soft interior out of the hard exterior.
  2. Sprinkle baking soda over the stain on your phone case. You don't need a lot of baking soda. Only use enough to cover the stain you want to remove. It doesn't matter what kind of baking soda you use.
  3. Scrub the baking soda into the stain with a wet toothbrush. Scrub the stain with back and forth motions. Keep scrubbing until you remove the stain.
    • You may not be able to remove all stains with baking soda. If you've been scrubbing for a while and the stain hasn't faded, you may need to use a stronger stain remover to remove the stain.
  4. Rinse the baking soda from the case and dry it with a soft cloth. After rinsing and wiping the case, let it air dry for at least an hour. After an hour you can put your phone back in the case.
