This wikiHow teaches you how to remove the security code from your iPhone's SIM card. This allows you to restart your phone and make calls without entering the SIM PIN.

To step

Method 1 of 2: Unlock your SIM card

  1. Open the settings of your iPhone. This is the gray gear icon on the home screen.
  2. Scroll down and tap Phone. This is on about a third of the Settings page.
  3. Scroll down and tap SIM PIN. This option is at the bottom of the page.
  4. Slide the green SIM PIN switch to the left, to the "OFF" position. With this you indicate to your phone that you want to unlock your SIM card.
    • If this slider is white, your SIM card is already unlocked.
  5. Enter your SIM PIN. If you don't know your PIN, you can call your service provider for a reset code.
  6. Tap Done. It's in the top right corner of the screen. If your SIM PIN is correct, your SIM card should now be unlocked.

Method 2 of 2: Get an unlock code from your carrier

  1. Call your provider's customer service. Before using any of the numbers below, try calling *1200 or 1200- This is the default customer service number in most phones.
    • KPN customer service - 0800-0402
    • T-mobile customer service - 00316 2400 1200
    • Tele2 customer service - 020-754 4444
    • Telfort customer service - 0900 9596
    • Make sure you have your account PIN to hand so you can verify your identity.
  2. Explain your problem to the automated assistant. In most cases you will not immediately get an employee on the phone. Instead, say something like "I want to remove a PIN from my SIM card" and wait to be connected to a customer service representative.
    • You may have to wait several hours to contact a representative.
  3. Ask your customer service for a PIN unlock code. You may also need to explain to them that you are not trying to unlock your iPhone yourself - just the SIM card.
    • The unlock code is officially known as a "PUK" if your SIM card is now locked due to too many failed PIN code entries.
  4. Write down your PIN unlock code. This is the four-digit PIN that you enter when you unlock your SIM card.

Tips

  • If you have any doubts about your SIM PIN, call your service provider (eg T-mobile) and ask for help.

Warnings

  • If you try to gamble your SIM PIN three times, your SIM PIN will be permanently locked.
