If you have files you want to transfer to or from your phone to or from your PC but no USB cable or other wired connection is available, try using Bluetooth. Bluetooth is a way of transferring data wirelessly. The downside to Bluetooth is that it has a short range, so you have to be close to the device you are going to connect via Bluetooth.

To step

Method 1 of 2: Connect on Windows

  1. Turn on Bluetooth of the mobile device. You can find the on and off button for Bluetooth in the "Settings" menu of the device.
    • Make sure the device is set to "Discoverable" so your computer can find it.
  2. Go to the PC's "Start" menu and click "Control Panel". It is located on the right side of the menu, above the "Devices and Printers" option.
  3. Look for the "Add device" option and click on it. This option is under "Hardware and Sound" and is located on the right side of the Control Panel.
  4. Search for the other device. After clicking "Add device" a window will appear. This is the "Add a Device" wizard. It will automatically search for the Bluetooth device.
    • Make sure the device you want to connect to is not in sleep mode.
  5. Pair the computer with the mobile device. Once the device name appears in the menu, click it and click "Next" at the bottom right of the window to initiate the Bluetooth pairing of the PC and the mobile device.

Method 2 of 2: Connecting on Mac OS

  1. Turn on Bluetooth of the mobile device. You can find the on and off button for Bluetooth in the "Settings" menu of the device.

    • If the Bluetooth status menu is not in your menu bar, choose Apple menu> System Preferences, click Bluetooth, then select "Show Bluetooth status in the menu bar".
  3. Pair the computer with the mobile device. Scroll through the list of available devices and select the one you want to pair.
    • Follow the onscreen instructions to pair your device.
    • You only need to pair your computer with the device once.
    • The device will remain paired until you unpair it.
