This wikiHow teaches you how to add an additional phone number to your iPhone's Apple ID. You can then use this new number for Messenger and other messaging apps.

To step

1. Open your iPhone's Settings app. The icon of this app is a gray gear. It is usually on one of the home screens of your iPhone.
   • If you don't find this app right away, it's probably in the Account Services folder.
2. Tap iCloud. This button is at the top of the fourth section, along with "iTunes Store and App Store" and "Wallet and Apple Pay"
   • If you are not already signed in to iCloud on your phone, you must first enter your Apple ID and password when prompted.
3. Tap your Apple ID. This is the first button. This should contain your name and your main email address.
   • Enter your password when prompted.
4. Tap Contact Information. This is the first option of the second section.
5. Tap Add email or phone number. This is the last option of the first section.
6. Tap Phone number.
   • Make sure you have the check mark next to "Phone number", not the check mark next to "Email address".
7. Tap Next. This button can be found at the top right.
8. Enter the phone number you want to add to your account.
9. Tap Next. This is at the top right of the screen.
10. Watch your phone for the verification code.
    • The verification code will be sent to the new number.
11. Enter the verification code. This phone number will now be added to your account as a "verified number".
    • This number does not automatically become your primary phone number, but it is now linked to your Apple ID.
    • You can now also link your new number to my messaging and messenger app.
