If you want to make a fake scar or wound for Halloween or just to scare your friends, you can do it with the help of household products and makeup. You can also use theater make-up, which is intended to create effects like this. With the right supplies, you can easily create a fake wound to make your costume even better and more realistic.

To step

Method 1 of 3: Make a fake wound without latex

  1. Gather the materials you will need to make a fake wound. You will need plain white glue, skin-colored makeup, toilet paper, and some small makeup brushes.
    • Make sure the glue you use does not harm your skin. You will apply the glue to your skin yourself.
    • Use foundation in a color that matches your own skin tone. You can use your regular makeup if possible, as it will probably suit your complexion already.
    • You can also use liquid foundation in a slightly different shade from your regular skin tone to enhance the effect of a flesh wound.
    • Lay out some newspaper and make sure you wear old clothes that can get dirty in case you accidentally spill something.
  2. For larger wounds, you will likely need two or three sheets.
  3. Tissues like Kleenex's also work. It is best to use tissues without texture and patterns.
  4. When you have suitable toilet paper or tissues, tear off another piece that is the same size as the first piece. Make sure you have at least two identical strips of paper. You will apply at least two coats of paper and glue where you are making the wound.
  5. Spread another layer of glue on the toilet paper with the brush. Cover the entire surface and then put another layer of paper on top.
  6. Two coats are fine, but adding more coats will give your wound more depth. Add three to five coats if you want to make a deeper cut or a gaping wound.
  7. If the paper has a clear edge and you don't flatten it, your wound will look less realistic.
  8. If possible, use a hair dryer to help the glue dry faster.
  9. Make sure to use foundation that is the same color as your skin. It does not necessarily have to be the same color, because foundation in a slightly different color provides a nice discoloration.
  10. With a flat foundation brush you can easily apply the foundation and let the wound and skin merge neatly.
  11. Be very careful when cutting as you will be using the scissors very close to your skin. It is best to cut the paper a little bit to make a hole. When you have a hole, tear and pull the rest of the paper away.
  12. Do not remove the torn toilet paper from the area. It should look like your skin is peeling off at the site of the wound. This will give your fake wound depth.
  13. Also apply eyeshadow on the areas of the paper around the skin.
  14. The dark eyeshadow makes it look like your skin is bruised.
  15. Once you've applied some fake blood, you can pour more on the wound to make it look like the wound is bleeding.
  16. To really make it look like blood is dripping from your wound, drip some fake blood onto one area and let the drops slide down. For example, if you made a deep wound in your arm, apply blood to the wound and then let your arm hang down to let the blood drip down.
  17. Simply wash the area when you want to remove the fake wound.

Method 2 of 3: Make a fake wound with petroleum jelly

  1. Gather all your supplies. You will need petroleum jelly, eyeshadow, lip gloss or lipstick, a makeup brush, and a toothpick for this method.
    • Get eyeshadow with colors like dark blue, light blue, light brown, dark brown, red, dark pink / peach and yellow.
    • Dark red lip gloss or lipstick works great for making blood. With lip gloss your wound also shines more and the blood looks more fluid than with lipstick. Lipstick is very suitable for making dry blood.
    • You can also use fake blood at the end to make the wound look more real.
  2. Apply a layer of petroleum jelly where you want to make the wound. The thicker the layer, the more swollen the wound is.
    • Let the edges blend into your skin so that the wound looks more natural and doesn't resemble a blob of petroleum jelly.
    • This petroleum jelly method is more suitable for smaller wounds on your hands and arms.
  3. For a larger cut or deep wound, draw a larger and wider opening.
  4. Use light pink or peach eyeshadow on the edges to blend the edges of the wound nicely into your skin.
  5. Apply red eyeshadow between the light pink or peach eyeshadow and the brown eyeshadow to make the wound look fresher.
  6. You can also apply blue and / or yellow eyeshadow around the wound to make the wound look even worse. Blue, yellow, green and purple tones make your skin look like your skin is bruised.
  7. Make sure to spread the eyeshadow so that there are no unnaturally straight edges.
  8. Drop fake blood in the center of the wound and puddle or drain the blood to complete the wound.

Method 3 of 3: Make a fake wound with theater make-up and latex

  1. Gather your supplies. Theater makeup and latex are meant to give you a realistic look that is suitable for the stage. However, you can also use these resources for a costume, a party or just for fun. You need the following:
    • Liquid latex. You can buy this online and at business in party supplies.
    • Brushes
    • Fake blood
    • Tissues. Try to use regular tissues without textures and patterns.
    • Dark eyeshadow
    • It's also a good idea to lay out some newspaper, because liquid latex and fake blood can make a lot of mess.
  2. Apply tissues. Liquid latex dries fairly quickly, so treat a small area at a time instead of making the entire wound at once. Push the tissues into the latex.
    • The tissues will stick to the latex quite well. You can then pull and tear away the loose edges of the tissues.
  3. The paper and latex look like an open wound with the skin peeling off at the edges.
  4. Rub your finger over the area around it to make the foundation blend into your skin even more beautifully.
  5. Add a few drops of fake blood and mix everything. Then drip more blood in and on the wound and let the blood flow out of the wound.

Tips

  • You can use red food coloring and high fructose corn syrup to make fake blood.
  • Use darker colors if the wound needs to rot or you want to make it look more genuine.
  • Dab some red and brown blush on the wound to create a zombie look.
  • Make your own fake blood from food coloring, cornstarch and water.

Warnings

  • Check that you are not allergic to agents such as latex before making the wound.
  • If you choose to use a pointed object such as a knife, needle, or anything sharp that can injure yourself, be very careful when using the object. If you are making a fake wound on a child or someone with a tic, never use sharp objects.
  • Red food coloring makes permanent stains on clothes and temporary stains on your skin.
