There are many different ways to hang a bath towel. You can keep it simple or try to make it fun with a decorative fold. You can hang a towel in different ways for decoration and functionality. There is an easy way to hang a towel by folding it in thirds and draping it over the rack. You can also fold towels decoratively to create pockets and a bandana shape.

To step

Method 1 of 3: Hang towels in an easy way

  1. Spread the bath towel on a flat surface. You can use any flat surface in your area for this. You can use a table, a bed, a counter, or any other convenient place as long as it is a flat surface. It is important to make sure that the towel is spread out flat and evenly so that the ends of the towel lie as neatly as possible.
    • Make sure the surface you are using is clean and free of debris. The last thing you want after taking a shower is to dry yourself with a dirty towel!
  2. Fold the towel in three and place it over the towel rack. First, lay the towel flat. Then fold each long side to the center so that both sides meet in the center. Make sure the edges fall in!
    • You can also fold one long side to the center and then fold the other long side on top of this first side.
  3. Hang the towel over the rack. Hang the ends so that they are both evenly hung. If there is more than one towel hanging from the rack, keep them separate from each other to prevent mold.
  4. Hang a small towel over a large bath towel. To hang the towel, place it on a flat surface and fold it in thirds vertically. Once the towel is folded, place it over the large towel on the rack. Choose towels that are color-coordinated.

Method 2 of 3: Turning a towel into a bag

  1. Fold a large bath towel in thirds lengthwise. Lay the towel flat on a smooth surface. Fold each of the long sides so that they meet in the middle from end to end. Then fold the towel in half and place it over the rack.
  2. Make a lip fold on a smaller towel. Place a towel on a flat surface. Fold one of the shorter sides a quarter to the center. Fold that edge back in half again to make the lip crease.
  3. Turn the small towel over and fold it in thirds lengthwise. With the lip facing down, fold one side of the towel so that it touches the center. Fold the other side so that it falls into the crease of the lip. Now turn the towel over and you have a bag where you can put things like soap, lotion or other toiletries in.
    • Hang the small towel over the large bath towel so that the pouch is facing out. It looks like an apron with a pocket.
  4. Fold a washcloth with an accordion fold and put it in the pocket. Lay the washcloth flat on a table and fold the side lengthwise to create folds that overlap. Make sure to hold the washcloth firmly so that it doesn't come loose! Fold it in half and gently place it in the bag you made in the towel. Fan out the washcloth so it looks like a ruffle in the pouch.

Method 3 of 3: Making a bandana tie with a washcloth

  1. Fold the large towel in thirds. Lay it flat on the table and fold the long sides so that they meet in the middle. Then fold the towel in half and hang it over a towel rack. Then hang the ends straight.
  2. Fold the washcloth in a triangle over the folded towel. Lay the washcloth on a flat surface so that it looks like a diamond shape. Fold the top triangular end to the bottom end to create a bandana shape.
  3. Tie the corners of the triangle around the front half of the towel. Tie both ends of the washcloth around the forward-facing flap of the bath towel. If the washcloth is very thick, use a large safety pin or clothespin to tie it around the bath towel.
    • Get creative and in the pouch you made by the bandana tie, add some silk flowers or other creative items you have lying around.

Tips

  • Use regular pipe insulation to keep a towel neatly on the rack. Cut a piece of pipe insulation about 12 inches long. Fold the towel around the pipe insulation. There is a slot in the tube to tuck in the sides of the towel so you can hang it neatly on the towel rack.
