Living a good life as a Christian can sometimes look a little different than when you are a non-believer. For example, instead of valuing your worldly possessions and achievements, you will find more satisfaction by maintaining your relationship with the Lord and following His commandments. If you make these things a priority, you will likely find yourself feeling calmer, more satisfied, and you may even feel more able to face any hardships that come your way.

Method 1 of 2: Have a close relationship with God

1. Ask Jesus into your life if you haven't already. If you are just learning about Christianity, you must become a follower of Christ before you can live a good Christian life. To do this, you must pray to Jesus and ask Him to forgive you for all the sins you have committed in your life. Ask Him to come into your heart to help you turn from those sins and commit to following Him.
   • In John 14: 6, Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." This means that the only way to have a relationship with God is to be a follower of Jesus.
   • While each person's prayer is personal, it can go something like this: "Dear Lord, I know I have not always been perfect. Please forgive me for any time I have sinned, such as when I was impatient or told a lie. I want to become your follower so that I can be more like you. Please guide me and help me become a better person. Amen.'

   Tip: Being baptized in a church is a symbolic way of showing the world that you are dedicating your life to the Lord.

   
   
2. Confess your sins to God. While the Bible says you must confess your sins to become a follower of Jesus, this is not the only thing you must do. As a person you are going to make mistakes. If you do something that you know was wrong, pray to God to forgive you and ask Him to help you overcome that sin in the future.
   • The Bible says in 1 John 1: 9 that God will be merciful: "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
3. Strengthen your relationship with God by praying constantly. Once you have asked God in your life, try to get into the habit of communicating with God about everything. In 1 Thessalonians 5:17, the Bible says, "Pray without ceasing." Thank God for all the blessings in your life, praise Him for His goodness, ask for His guidance in making decisions, and turn to Him for comfort in times of need.
   • In Matthew 6: 9-13, Jesus gave a model prayer that you can use as an example of how to talk to God. Also known as the Lord's Prayer: “Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name, Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our guilt as well. we forgive others their guilt. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen. "
   • For another example of how to pray, read the Psalms, a biblical book full of different prayers to God.
4. Read your Bible every day. Prayer is one way of communicating with God, but if you want to hear what He has to say, you must make time to study the scriptures. You could read the Bible from cover to cover, you could choose a book to study for a while, or you could read guided reflections to understand what the different verses might mean.
   • To be close to Jesus, you must study his words. In John 6:63, Jesus says, "The words that I have spoken to you are my spirit and are life."
5. Join a group of like-minded followers for community and worship. If you want to strengthen your relationship with Christ, it is a good idea to join a church that teaches God's word. Not only will you receive relevant teachings from Church leaders, but you will also find other believers to talk to and a space where you can worship freely.
   • You may also find missions, Bible study groups, or other fun activities that will enrich your life.
   • In Hebrews 10: 24-25, the Bible says that when believers come together, you can lift one another up: “And let us not forsake our gathering together, as some are in the habit, but admonish one another; and so much more, as you see, that the day is approaching. "

Method 2 of 2: Follow God's commandments

1. Try to avoid the temptation to sin. It can be very difficult, but if you want to have a good life as a Christian, you must do your best not to sin. Since sin is anything that is not part of God's will for your life, it can be nearly impossible to avoid all of them. But even if you commit a sin, pray for God's forgiveness and try to do better next time.
   • At Colossians 3: 5-10, the Bible lists a number of earthly sins that must be avoided, including sexual immorality, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, idolatry, anger, wrath, malice, slander, obscene talk, and lying.
   • John 14:21 says that following God's laws is a way to show Jesus that you love him: “He that hath My commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall love him. My Father will be loved, and I will love him, and will manifest Myself to him. "
2. Treat others with love, generosity, and forgiveness. Try to channel God's love for you into the way you treat other people. If someone does something hurtful to you, try to forgive them as God has forgiven you for your sins. Encourage and support the people you meet as much as you can, and help when you see someone in need.
   • In James 1: 19-20, the Bible recommends that you be "slow to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger." In Matthew 5: 3-10, Jesus gives a talk known as The Beatitudes, urging his followers to be peaceable, meek, and righteous.
   • The Beatitudes say, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and hunger. thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Blessed are the peaceable, for they shall be called the children of God. those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. "
3. Don't fall into the trap of materialism. While it is tempting to place great value on your earthly possessions or your personal accomplishments, the Bible says those things are "of the world." Try to let go of the idea that you need certain things to be happy, or that you need to achieve a level of success that society has identified as important. Instead, make your relationship with God the priority of your life.
   • In 1 John 2:15, the Bible said, "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world; if any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him." This means that it is important to focus on God's values, rather than the things the world says are important, such as lust, beauty, and material objects.
   • The next verse continues that thought: "For all that is in the world, even the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the grandeur of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world." (1 John 2:16)
4. Listen to God's call to serve others. Service is an important part of living a Christian life, so look for opportunities in your life to give back for others. Your calling to serve may be to go into ministry to teach God's word, you may feel called to collect school supplies for underprivileged youth in your community, or your calling may be just to remain a faithful and honest employee at your job.
   • Not only will helping other people please God, but it will also make you feel like you are doing well in the world, which can be very satisfying.
   • Philippians 2: 3-4 says it is your duty to care for those who need it: “Do not by strife or by vain honor, but by humility let each one esteem the other more than himself. his, but let each one also look to the things of the others. "
   • 1 Peter 4:10 encourages you to find ways to use your specific talents and gifts to help others: “Every one as he has received a gift, so minister it to others, as good distributors of the manifold grace of God. . "

   You must be a follower of Jesus Christ to live a Christian life. Know what Jesus did and said. Obey him. It's that simple.

   
   

   Share your faith with others. One of Jesus' commands to his followers was to spread his word. In Mark 16:15 he said, "Go into all the world, preach the Gospel to all creatures." To share your faith with others, look for opportunities to testify of what your relationship with Christ means to you. This can mean talking to strangers about your faith, or it can sometimes mean showing God's love through your actions towards others.

   • Earlier in the book of Mark, Jesus said that you should be proud to share your faith: "You are the light of the world; a city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do men light a candle and put it underneath. a bushel, but upon a candlestick, and it shines unto all that are in the house: so let thy light shine before men, that they may see thy good works, and glorify thy Father which is in heaven. " (Matthew 5: 14-16)
