  1. Make sure iCloud Drive is turned on. You must have access to iCloud Drive to back up your conversations on WhatsApp. You do this like this:

    • Move the slider at "iCloud Drive" to the right; it will now turn green.

  1. Tap WhatsApp to open the app. You can make a backup in WhatsApp's settings.
    • To back up WhatsApp, your Android must be synced with Google Drive.
  2. Tap the WhatsApp menu button. This one looks like three dots on top of each other.
  3. Tap the "Settings" option. This is at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
  4. Tap the "Chats" tab. This will open your conversation settings.
  5. Tap "Chat Backup". Here you have several options:
    • "Backup to Google Drive" - ​​Back up your conversations to Google Drive.
    • "Auto Backup" - The settings for automatic backups. You can choose daily, weekly or monthly backups, or no automatic backups at all (the default).
    • "Add Videos" - Enable this option to include videos from your conversations in the backups.
  6. Tap "Back up to Google Drive". You now have to choose a frequency.
  7. Tap "Back up" to immediately back up your conversations. This process will continue as long as both your phone and Google Drive have enough space for the backup.
  8. Choose an account for storing your backup. If you don't have a Google account connected to WhatsApp yet, you will need to tap "Add Account" and enter your email address and password.
  9. Choose a network for the backup. You do this by tapping "Back up via", and then selecting a network.
    • If you use a mobile network for your backup, you may have to pay for this.
  10. Wait for your backup to complete. If this is your first backup, it may take a few minutes.

  • To avoid data costs, it is best to connect to a Wi-Fi network before making the backup.
