Do you have SWF files from your favorite Flash movies and games, but you don't know how to view or play them? You can view SWF files on your computer in a few steps, and you can play them on a mobile too, with a little patience.

Method 1 of 4: Using a browser on your computer

1. Extract the file (if necessary). Sometimes SWF files are packed as ZIP file. You can then extract the file by double clicking on it. You then save the extracted SWF in a suitable location.
2. Open your browser on your computer. You can use any browser to open SWF files.
3. Click and drag the SWF file into your browser window.
4. Drag the file into your browser window. The SWF file should start playing right now.
   • If the file cannot be opened, you may need to install the latest version of Flash for your browser.

Method 2 of 4: Using a SWF player

1. Find a suitable Flash player. There are a number of free and professional players available online. These can provide more playback options than your browser's. Popular programs are:
   • Swiff (Windows)
   • iSwiff (OS X)
   • Eltima Flash Movie Player (Windows and OS X)
   • GOM Media Player (Windows)
   • Media Player Classic (Windows)
2. Install the Flash player. Make sure you do not accept the bundled software (uncheck).
3. Right-click on the downloaded SWF file.
4. Select Open With.
5. Select your Flash player from the list of programs. If you cannot find the new player in the list, select "Choose default program ..." or "Other" (OS X) and browse to the newly installed player.
   • You can usually find the player in the "Program Files" folder on your C: drive (Windows), or in the "Applications" folder (OS X).
6. Play the file. Once you have selected the Flash player, your file will start playing. You can pause, rewind and work with the file in other ways

Method 3 of 4: Using your Android device

1. Download a SWF player from the Google Play Store. Although Adobe has stopped supporting Flash on Android devices, you can still download SWF players. Most of the apps are free and available from the Google Play Store.
   • You may need to install a File Explorer to find the SWF files you have downloaded to your mobile. These types of apps are also available from the Google Play Store.
2. Convert the SWF file. You can use various converters to convert SWF files to HTML5 or MP4. These file formats can always be played by your mobile browser or video player. You can find these programs on the Internet. You may need to convert the file on your computer before you can move it to your Android device. Some popular options include:
   • Google Swift - This service from Google offers the possibility to convert from SWF to HTML 5, which can then be viewed in any modern browser, without a plugin.
   • Freemake Video Converter - This free program can convert SWF files to any video format you need, such as MP4.

Method 4 of 4: Using your iPhone or iPad

1. Download another browser from the App Store. Since Flash is not supported on your Apple devices, you will need to use a third-party browser to play Flash. One such browser is Puffin, available from the App Store. Another popular option is the Skyfire browser.
2. Convert the SWF file. You can use various conversions to convert SWF files to HTML5 or MP4. These file formats can be easily read by mobile browsers or video players. You can find them by searching the internet. You may need to run the conversion on your computer and then move the files to your iPhone or iPad.
