This article will show you how to open and view the contents of a PPT (PowerPoint presentation) file in Windows and macOS. PPT is the fixed presentation format of the early versions of Microsoft PowerPoint and is supported by all versions of the software. If you don't have PowerPoint, you can open the file in Google Slides or PowerPoint Online (a free version of PowerPoint available on the web).

Method 1 of 3: With PowerPoint

1. Find the PPT file you want to open on your computer. Open the folder containing the presentation and find your PPT file.
2. Right click on the PPT file. This will display the file options in a drop-down menu.
3. Move your cursor over Open with in the menu. This will open a submenu with a list of programs that you can use to open the PPT file.
4. Select Microsoft PowerPoint in the "Open with" menu. This will open your PPT file in PowerPoint. You can view and edit your presentation here.

   • You can also download and use Apache OpenOffice (https://www.openoffice.org/download) or Apple Numbers (https://itunes.apple.com/tr/app/numbers/id409203825).
   • To open the PTT file with another program, simply select the program you want to use from the "Open With" menu.

Method 2 of 3: With Google Slides

1. Open the Google Slides website in your internet browser. Type https://docs.google.com/presentation in the address bar of your browser and press ↵ Enter or ⏎ Return.
   • If prompted, sign in to your Google account.
2. Click on the folder icon at the top right of "Recent Presentations". This will open a new popup window where you can select the presentation file to open in Google Docs.
3. Click on the tab upload. This button is at the top of the "Open a file" popup. This allows you to select, upload and open a presentation file on your computer.
4. click on Select a file from your device. This is the blue button in the center of the Upload page. This will open an explorer window where you can select your PPT file.
   • You can also drag and drop your PPT file here.
5. Select your PPT file. Find your PTT file in the explorer window and click on it.
6. Click in the pop-up To open. This will upload your PPT file and open it in Google Slides.

Method 3 of 3: With PowerPoint Online

1. Open the PowerPoint Online website in your internet browser. Type https://office.live.com/start/PowerPoint.aspx in the address bar of your browser and press ↵ Enter or ⏎ Return.
   • If prompted, sign in to your Microsoft account.
2. Press the button Upload a presentation. This button is next to an up arrow in the top right corner. This will open an explorer window.
3. Select your PPT file. Use the explorer window to locate your PPT file and click on the name of the file.
4. Press the button To open. This will upload your PPT file to your PowerPoint Online account and open your presentation in your browser.
