Backgammon is one of the oldest board games for two players and has been enjoyed with great pleasure for over 5000 years. To win in backgammon, make sure that all of your stones land in your own field and then remove them from the game board. If you want to learn how to play backgammon, just follow the simple instructions below.

Method 1 of 4: Preparing for the game

1. Play again. Backgammon is meant to be played several times, as each game is worth a number of fields. You can even agree on a certain goal in advance, until the opponent loses a certain number of fields.
   • If you want to continue playing, but you are unable to do so within 1 session, you can keep a tally of the number of fields each player has lost and continue playing another time.

Tips

• If you roll the same number with both dice (such as 4-4), that's a double. If you roll this, you may move a tile four times the number of eyes you have thrown. For example, if you rolled 3-3, you may move three steps four times.
• If the dice (or even just 1 die) fall off the board, you will have to roll them both again.

Necessities

• Backgammon board.
• Thirty pieces of two different colors (15 of each color).
• Two dice.
• An opponent.
