Are your apps taking up too much space on your phone's internal memory? If you have an older version of Android, you can move your apps to your SD card. Note: Most phones running Android 4.0 - 4.2 do NOT allow you to move apps. Google has removed this feature from the operating system. It has been brought back at 4.3, but only for select phones, and the app developer must allow it. To learn how to move apps if your phone allows it, continue with Step 1.

To step

1. Open Settings. You can access Settings from the icon on your home screen, the app drawer or from the Menu button.
2. Tap Applications, Apps, or Application Manager. You may have to scroll down to find it. The name differs depending on your phone and the version of Android you are using.
3. Tap Manage Applications. If you are using Android 2.2 you will need to tap this to open your list of applications. If you have a later version you will already see the list.
4. Choose the app you want to move to the SD card, and tap the "Move to SD card" button. If the button is gray, this app does not support moving to SD card. If the button is not there, your version of Android does not support moving apps to the SD card.
   • Remember that an app must be designed to allow it to be moved to the SD card.
5. Download a program to move apps. You can download an app such as Link2SD with which you can quickly see if your apps can be moved to your SD card, which will save you a lot of time. With these kinds of apps, you can even transfer certain apps that you normally wouldn't be able to move to your SD card, but sometimes you will have problems opening such an app.
   • These programs often work better if your phone is "rooted".
