In this article you will learn exactly how to unlock all characters in Mario Kart Wii. The Mario Kart Wii characters are arranged in three levels: light, medium and heavy. The level of the character determines what kind of car or motorcycle you can use. The characters differ from each other in a few ways. Baby Mario, for example, has an advantage in terms of weight and can drive his vehicle better than, say, Toad. The differences between the characters are very small and should therefore have little influence on your choice. You can find out who your favorite is by trying out all the characters.

Method 1 of 11: Baby Daisy or Daisy

1. Get at least 1 star in all 150cc or 50cc Wii Grand Prix Cups or compete in 1950 races.. You have now unlocked Baby Daisy.
2. Finish first in the 150cc Special Cup or compete in 2,850 races.. You have now unlocked Daisy.

Method 2 of 11: Baby Luigi

1. Unlock the 8 Expert Staff Ghost Data in Time Trials, win 100 Wi-Fi Ghost Races or compete in 3,150 races.. You have now unlocked Baby Luigi.

Method 3 of 11: Birdo

1. Play Time Trials on 16 different courses, win 250 Wi-Fi races or participate in 1350 races.. You have now unlocked Birdo.

Method 4 of 11: Bowser Jr and Dry Bowser

1. Get at least 1 star in all 100cc Retro Grand Prix Cups or compete in 3,450 races.. You have now unlocked Browser Jr!
2. Get at least 1 star in all 150cc Wii Grand Prix Cups or compete in 4,350 races.. You have now unlocked Dry Bowser.

Method 5 of 11: Diddy Kong

1. Win the 50cc Lightning Cup or compete in 450 races.. You have now unlocked Diddy Kong.

Method 6 of 11: Dry Bones

1. Win the 100cc Leaf Cup or compete in 1050 races.. You have now unlocked Dry Bones.

Method 7 of 11: King Boo

1. Win the 50cc Star Cup or compete in 750 races.. You have now unlocked King Boo.

Method 8 of 11: Rosalina

1. Get at least 1 star in all Mirror Grand Prix Cups, compete in 4950 races or play or participate in 50 races and save the Super Mario Galaxy game files to your Wii. You have now unlocked Rosalina.
2. Win all 150cc cups. Defeat 18 staff ghosts. You have now unlocked Rosalina.

Method 9 of 11: Toadette

1. Play Time Trials on all 32 different courses, win 1000 Wi-Fi races or take part in 2550 races. You have now unlocked Toadette.

Method 10 of 11: Mii

1. Win the 100cc Special Cup. This is how you unlock a Mii (Outfit A).
2. Unlock all (32) Expert Staff Ghosts in Time Trials. This is how you unlock a Mii (Outfit B).

Method 11 of 11: Funky Kong

1. Unlock 4 expert staff Ghosts to unlock Funky Kong. Or take part in 2,250 races!

Tips

• Try to cut a piece in each level so that you unlock characters faster and easier.
• A Super Mario Galaxy file on your Wii makes it a lot easier to unlock Rosalina.
• Play against 8 Staff Ghosts on the Mario Kart Channel to unlock Baby Luigi.
• Make sure to use boosters and shields wisely.

Warnings

• To unlock characters, you will need to take the above measures as a Single Player.
• Toadette is not unlockable on some consoles. This has to do with Nintendo server errors.
• It can take quite some time to unlock all characters.
