Horoscopes predict your future using information based on the position of the sun, moon and planets at the time of your birth. With the help of daily, weekly and monthly horoscopes it is possible to see how these different states influence your life and personality. If you want to know what your horoscope is, you first have to find out what your zodiac sign is. Then you can look it up in newspapers, magazines and, for the strikers among us, on astrological charts!

Method 1 of 3: Select your zodiac sign

1. Use your birthday to determine your zodiac sign. There are 12 zodiac signs (astrological signs). Each of these signs represents a specific time of the year. It is possible that sun signs, also called constellations, sometimes start one day earlier or later per period. Western astrology almost always uses fixed dates.
   • Aries: March 21 to April 19.
   • Taurus: April 20 to May 20.
   • Gemini: May 21 to June 20.
   • Cancer: June 21 to July 22.
   • Leo: July 23 to August 22.
   • Virgo: August 23 to September 22.
   • Libra: September 23 to October 22.
   • Scorpio: October 23 to November 21.
   • Sagittarius: November 22 to December 21.
   • Capricorn: December 22 to January 19.
   • Aquarius: January 20 to February 18.
   • Pisces: February 19 to March 20.
2. Learn about the different character traits related to your zodiac sign. Certain typical character traits fit with each zodiac sign. These characteristics are said to be found in people born under their corresponding zodiac sign.
   • For example, Aries are said to be independent and courageous, while Pisces are generally labeled as more reserved.
   • Bulls are stubborn but easy going. Lions are often kind, generous, and blessed with a great ego.
   • Gemini are talkative social butterflies with many different personalities. Cancers are contradictory, unpredictable and love adventure.
   • Virgos are inquisitive and constantly think about how to improve themselves and others. Libras are ambitious, diplomatic, and expensive in taste.
   • Scorpios are fierce people who try everything to understand the world better. Sagittarians are positive, lively and reckless. They really enjoy meeting new people.
   • Capricorns are ambitious and have an active mind, and prefer to be in charge of their own life. Aquarians take every opportunity to create new ideas, and they care less about how others feel about them.
3. Determine who is best for you based on his or her zodiac sign. Each constellation can be classified under one of the elements: fire, water, air or earth. Constellations that are assigned to the same element are said to fit best together.
   • Fire signs are Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius.
   • Water signs are Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces.
   • Air signs are Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius.
   • Earth signs are Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn.

Method 2 of 3: Determine your horoscope

1. Look in a newspaper or on the internet for your daily horoscope. Most newspapers have a section called "Daily Horoscope". Here you will find daily advice based on your zodiac sign. For a more modern option and a more extensive selection, go to the internet and search for your daily horoscope there.

   • Subscribe to the newsletter from this internet page and receive your daily horoscope by e-mail every day.
2. Read weekly horoscopes in popular magazines and on internet pages. Check them out in magazines like Broadly, Elle, Happinez and Flair - written or on their internet pages. You can of course also visit internet pages that are fully focused on horoscopes and related information.
   • Compare your weekly horoscope with your daily horoscope and try to find corresponding advice.
3. Read your monthly horoscope in the popular magazines and on internet pages. As with the weekly horoscope, professional magazines and specialized web pages for horoscopes are the best choice for monthly horoscopes. Try Women's Health, Elle and Happinez.
   • Avoid vague web pages that do not have an established reputation. There is a lot of difference in quality between horoscopes, so go for the big famous names!
4. Explain your horoscope. After reading multiple horoscopes, try to apply the information you have received to your daily life. If it says in the horoscope that you should pursue a new relationship (professional or romantic), take your chance! Having said this, use your horoscope as a motivational guide. However, don't take it all too seriously.

Method 3 of 3: Read an astrological chart

1. Purchase an astrological chart. Astrological charts show the sensitive angles and astrological aspects of the sun, moon and planets during the year. You can purchase a book online, print a map or read about it online via a webpage.
   • Take the time to familiarize yourself with an astrological chart before determining your signs and the associated house.
2. Look for your sun sign on the astrological chart. Each astrological chart is divided into 12 sections. Each of these sections corresponds to the different periods of a year. Look on the astrological chart for the part that corresponds to the period that your birthday falls in. In this way you will find out what the zodiac sign is for this part.
   • The sun sign is the constellation of the zodiac that is behind the sun at the time of your birthday. Most daily, weekly and monthly horoscopes are based solely on this sign.
3. Determine the meaning of your zodiac sign. It is believed that your zodiac sign has the most influence on your "Zodiac" personality. Most newspapers and internet pages use your zodiac sign to determine your horoscope. For example, an Aries is enthusiastic, independent and adventurous, while a Taurus is business-like, ambitious and reliable.

   • Remember that different sources will have different advice!
4. Find out your element and the associated personal characteristics. The 12 signs of the zodiac are divided into four elements per three: Fire, Water, Earth and Air. Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius are Fire; Pisces, Cancer and Scorpio are Water; Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn are Earth, and Aquarius, Gemini, and Libra are Air.
   • Fire signs are confident, passionate and intuitive.
   • Water signs are idealistic, sensitive and friendly.
   • Air signs are social, communicative and open-minded
   • Earth signs are practical, realistic, stable and persistent.
5. Determine your moon sign and its meaning. The moon sign is determined by the position of the moon at the time of your birth. This is believed to be linked to your inner self and your emotional system. Unlike your zodiac sign, this represents the personality you are when you feel comfortable somewhere or when you are alone. The Gemini moon sign, for example, shows that Gemini likes to be socially engaged, but also that they are often involved in valuable but complex inner monologues.
   • Search online horoscopes to determine the meaning of your moon sign. Most magazines do not provide this type of information.
   • Moon signs are considered to be more feminine and considerate of relationships with important women in your life.
   • Some people believe that moon signs reflect your subconscious thoughts more than the sun sign.
6. Determine your home and its significance. Start looking for the ascendant at nine o'clock. This is the zodiac sign and degree that arose on the eastern horizon when you were born. From this spot, the top line represents the first house. Turn it counterclockwise by 30 degrees and that way it is determined which zodiac sign belongs to it. When you know what your ascendant is, you read the corresponding information about the zodiac that rotates at 30 degrees throughout the year.
   • Think about the first house that is in the 30 degree part from 9 a.m. to 8 a.m. If the corresponding zodiac sign of your first house is Aries, it means that this sign dominates the first house. The first house represents you when you are born, such as your attitude, temperature, appearance and identity.
