Tired of Twitter? If you don't want to be a Twitter celebrity anymore, or if you want to create a completely new account, or to get off the Internet altogether and start chatting in the real world, here's how to delete your Twitter profile permanently.

Steps

1. 1 Go to Twitter. Just enter your username and password and login.
2. 2 Click on Settings.’ You can find them in the dropdown menu to the right of the search bar at the top of your page.
   • Please change your email address and / or your username before deleting. This gives you the option to create a new profile as soon as you delete the old one if you wish. You only need to do this if you want to create a new profile with the same email address and username.
     
     
3. 3 Click on Deactivate my profile."’ It's at the bottom of the page.
4. 4 Confirm that this is what you want to do. You have now deleted your Twitter profile. Whatever it is, Twitter will keep your profile information for another 30 days, if you change your mind and want to reopen your profile, you just need to log in. If not, the profile will disappear forever.
   • Remember, you don't have to delete your entire profile just to change your username or email address. You can do this in Profile settings.
   • Although your profile will be deleted in a couple of minutes, you will be able to see some posts on twitter.com for a couple of days.

Tips

• If you want to restore your profile, you have 30 days to do this after deletion. You can restore it just by going into it.
• You can do this on your smartphone using the internet instead of searching through the settings.
• You don't need to delete your profile to change your username. Just change it to Settings, if you want to.

Warnings

• Can't use the same username, email in a different profile. If you want to join Twitter again, please change the information on your current Twitter profile before deactivating it.
• Links to your profile will be removed later, or cached like in Google. Twitter has no control over this, you will have to contact these sites directly to remove your link.
