Temporarily permed hair is a way to reimagine your curly hairstyle. Some people consult with a professional to achieve smooth hair straightening. Salons can charge anywhere from $ 50 to $ 100, depending on the length of the hair. Use these steps to straighten your hair temporarily after a perm at home.

Steps

1. 1 Wash your hair after perming and use conditioner before styling.
   • Use a cleansing shampoo or product that smoothes or straightens your hair as you wash. Use a deep conditioner by focusing most of the conditioner on the ends of your hair. Leave the conditioner on for a few minutes, then wash off.
2. 2 Apply styling products before drying.
   • Dry your hair using a towel. If drying doesn't break the curls, then towel dry your hair. Comb gently from root to tip with a wide-toothed comb.
   • Apply a heat-shielding hair product to damp hair before drying or styling. Apply the product all over your hair. Finish with a straightening lotion or oil, adding a large amount of the product to the ends of the hair, without leaving too much of this product near the roots.
3. 3 Dry your hair. Do not use a brush or comb. Use your hands and fingers to move your hair while drying. Dry until all excess moisture has been removed from the hair and the hair is approximately 80 percent dry.
   • Hold the hairdryer over your head, directing the heat downward as this will help smooth the hair. You may need to hold the hair dryer by the barrel itself instead of the handle. Start drying your hair by setting the hair dryer to a medium to medium-high heat setting.
   • Divide your hair into multiple sections, securing each section with a hair clip. Take one section at a time, finish drying your hair with a round or flat comb to straighten your curls.
   • Place the comb under your hair, as close to the scalp as possible. Slowly run the comb towards the ends of your hair, directing heat from the hair dryer to your hair. Use the hot dryer setting and finish drying with cool air.
   • Repeat this process with each section of hair as many times as necessary until all hair is straightened and smooth.
   • Use a low-setting curling iron to finish straightening your hair.
4. 4 Straighten hair after perm in 5 cm sections. wide. Start at the roots and slowly move the curling iron towards the ends of your hair. Repeat the process until all hair is straightened.
   • Finish the straightening process with a little smoothing lotion or serum to smooth out hair and any loose hair.
5. 5 Ready.
