In this article, you will learn how to share an animated image on Slack using the free Giphy add-on or download from your computer.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Using "Giphy"

1. 1 Log into your Slack team. To do this, enter the address of your team's workspace in the address bar or follow this link: https://slack.com/signin.
2. 2 Follow this link: https://slack.com/apps/A0F827J2C-giphy. This will take you to the "Giphy" page in the Slack app directory.
3. 3 Press Install (Install). It's a green button in the left column.
4. 4 Press Add Giphy Integration (Install Giphy addon).
5. 5 Choose a rating for the gif. By default, the rating is "G" without age restrictions, but you can choose another rating in the drop-down menu.
6. 6 Press Save Integration (Save merge). Giphy is ready to use.
7. 7 Return to work environment.
8. 8 Click on the channel where you want to share the gif. Your channels are located in the left column.
9. 9 Enter giphy any word> and press ↵ Enter. Replace "any word>" with a description of the gif type. After that, the corresponding GIF will appear.
   • For example, if you want to see gifs with cats, enter / giphy cats.
10. 10 Press Shuffleto display more similar GIFs. Keep clicking on the button until you find a GIF to send.
11. 11 Press Send (Send). The selected GIF will appear in the channel.

Method 2 of 2: Downloading a GIF from a Computer

1. 1 Log into your Slack team. To do this, enter the address of your team's workspace in the address bar or follow this link: https://slack.com/signin.
2. 2 Click on the channel where you want to share the gif. The channel list can be found on the left side of the window.
3. 3 Press + at the bottom of the screen, to the left of the text entry field.
4. 4 Press My computerto open File Explorer.
5. 5 Click on the gif you want to send. Click on a gif to select it.
6. 6 Click on Open.
7. 7 Choose who can see the GIF. By default, only you can see the gif. If necessary, select another option from the drop-down list.
8. 8 Press Upload (Upload) to share the image with selected users.
