If you decide to delete your Instagram account, then it will be useful for you to know that this process, although as simple as it may seem initially, can be done both using a mobile device and using a computer. After that, the data about the account, all its contents and other information will be irretrievably erased.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Delete Instagram using a mobile device

1. 1 Open the Instagram app. It is a multicolored icon that looks like a camera lens. If your username has already been saved, you will be taken directly to the home page.
2. 2 Open your profile. A profile or account page is the page that stores all of your photos and videos. To open a profile, you must click on the icon with a silhouette of a person. It is located in the lower right corner of the screen.
3. 3 Click the gear icon (for iPhone) or ⋮ (for Android). You will find this icon in the upper right corner of the screen. This will take you to the Instagram settings page.
4. 4 Scroll down the settings menu and tap on the option Instagram Help Center. It's at the bottom of the menu under the Support section.
5. 5 Press Account management. This is the second option, starting from the top.
6. 6 Press Account deleting. This is the second option on the page.
7. 7 Press next to the question “How do I delete my account?". A page with detailed information will open. It is not necessary to read all of its contents, but here you can learn about the consequences of deleting your account and possible alternatives.
8. 8 Click on the link "Delete account", highlighted in blue. This link is in the first paragraph.
   • If you don't want to permanently delete your account, click on the "Temporarily block your account" link. The disconnected account can be restored at any time.
9. 9 Log into your Instagram account. Enter your username (or email address) and password for your account, then tap To come in.
10. 10 Select the reason for deleting your account. Click on the drop-down menu and select the reason why you are deleting your account.
    • If you do not want to provide a reason, select "Other".
11. 11 Enter the password again. Enter your password in the text box at the bottom of the page to confirm that you want to permanently delete your account.
12. 12 Click on the button Permanently delete your account. A pop-up window will appear asking for final confirmation.
13. 13 Click on OK. Now your account is permanently erased, along with all content and other data.
    • It is worth noting that if you decide to return to Instagram, the username that you had on that account will no longer be able to be used.

Method 2 of 2: Delete Instagram using a computer

1. 1 Go to the page https://help.instagram.com in your browser.
   • Remember that deleting an account is irrevocable... By deleting your account, you will no longer be able to use your username and open photos or videos from your account.
2. 2 Press Account management.
3. 3 Press Account deleting. This is the second option on the page.
4. 4 Press next to the question “How do I delete my account?". A page with detailed information will open.
5. 5 Click on the link "Delete account", highlighted in blue. This link is in the first paragraph.
6. 6 Log into your Instagram account. Enter your username (or email address) and password for your account, then tap To come in.
7. 7 Select the reason for deleting your account. Click on the drop-down menu and select the reason why you are deleting your account.
   • If you do not want to provide a reason, select "Other".
8. 8 Enter the password again. Enter your password in the text box at the bottom of the page to confirm that you want to permanently delete your account.
9. 9 Click on the button Permanently delete your account. A pop-up window will appear asking for final confirmation.
10. 10 Click on OK. Now your account is permanently erased, along with all content and other data.

Tips

• Be sure to download any photos and videos you want to keep before deleting your account.

Warnings

• You cannot delete the username first and then return it. Once you delete your account, you cannot restore it.
