This wikiHow article will show you how to request a refund for your item if you forgot it in an Uber taxi. This can be done both through the Uber website and through the mobile app. Also keep in mind that although Uber will try to put you in touch with the driver, there is no guarantee that you will receive your lost item back.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: From the phone

1. 1 Launch the Uber app. Click on the Uber app icon, which looks like a black square with white Uber letters inside. Typically, you can find it on one of the desktops or in the app drawer. If you are already logged into Uber, the map will open immediately.
   • If you are not yet logged into your account, then enter your email (or phone number) and password.
2. 2 Click on ☰. It's in the upper-left corner of the screen. A pop-up menu will appear.
3. 3 Click on Help. This item is located closer to the middle of the menu. The "Help" page will open.
4. 4 Click on Travel and cost revision. This item can be found near the bottom of the page.
5. 5 Select a ride. Click on the trip during which your item was lost.
   • You may need to scroll down to find the ride you want.
6. 6 Scroll down and tap I left a thing at Uber. The item is closer to the middle of the page.
7. 7 Click on Contact the driver about a lost item. This first option is at the top of the page. By clicking on it, you will be taken to the Uber page with a request to contact the driver about the loss of the item.
8. 8 Scroll down and enter your phone number. Click on the "Phone number" field and enter your number.
   • If you do not have access to the phone through which you usually use Uber (for example, you lost your phone in an Uber taxi), enter the number of a friend or family member, which you can quickly reach in case the driver calls you back.
9. 9 Click on SEND. The button is at the bottom of the page. Your request will be sent and Uber will try to connect you to the driver.
10. 10 Wait for an answer. If the driver answers, the call will be forwarded to your phone.
    • If you do not receive a response, wait an hour or two and fill out the form again.
11. 11 Discuss returning your item. If the driver confirms that he has a lost item, then agree on the place and time of the meeting.
    • If you are in America, you will have to pay Uber $ 15 for the returned item. In Russia, the service is provided free of charge.

Method 2 of 2: Through the site

1. 1 Open up Uber webpageto get in touch with a forgotten item. Once you click on the link, a page with information at the top of the page about the most recent ride will open if you are already signed in to your Uber account.
   • If you are not yet logged into Uber, you need to click LOGIN in the upper right corner of the page and then enter your email address and password.
