Steps

1. 1 Find a long rope. It should be thin enough to fit between the door and the doorway, but strong enough not to rip.
2. 2 Tie Slipknot in the middle of the rope.
3. 3 Place the rope in the upper right corner of the door you want to open. Slide the rope loop slowly until it is inside the vehicle.
4. 4 Using a side-to-side motion, lower the knot to the desired height. Place a loop over the latch and pull tight.
5. 5 Pull the rope up. The rope will also pull the door latch and the door will open.

Tips

• This method will not work for vehicles with door locks.

Warnings

• If you cannot unlock the car yourself, call other drivers with whom you are friends for help. If your valuables are visible, stay close to the vehicle until help arrives.
