1 Measure your windows. You must do this in order to buy the correct size blinds. Use a tape measure to measure the size of the window. You can attach the blinds both from the inside and from the outside of the case.If you hang your blinds from the outside, your windows (and blinds) will appear larger. Hanging the blinds from the inside will give the window a more sophisticated look. Plus, attaching them from the inside will allow more light to pass through the edges of the blinds.
  • Measurement for external attachment: Measure along the outside edge of the window frame. Measure the exact length from the top of the frame to the bottom of the frame (or to the window sill, if you have one).
  • Measurements for internal fixing: Place a tape measure on the inside of the frame where the glass meets the frame. Measure the width of the window at the top, middle, and bottom. If there is any difference in numbers, use the smallest value.
  • 2 Order the blinds according to your measurements. There are many different types of blinds - vinyl, plastic, aluminum, wood - and your choice should be based on personal preference.
    • If you are planning to put aluminum blinds in your nursery, make sure they are painted with certified lead-free paint.
  • 3 Make mounting marks. Unpack the blinds and make sure all necessary parts are in place. If an instruction sheet is included with your blinds, follow the steps in the instruction clearly. You will need to mark with a pencil to know where to place the brackets.
    • For external attachment: Hold the louver so that its top bar (the top of the louver) is centered and aligned with the window frame (with two vertical slats that form the window frame). Make pencil marks just below the top bar and on each side of the frame. You should also make marks every half a centimeter from both ends of the top bar.
    • For internal fastening: Position the top bar inside the window frame. It should be level - keep the bar straight with your hand, even if your window is not completely level. Make pencil marks under the top bar at each end.
  • Part 2 of 3: Attaching the Brackets

    1. 1 Open the bracket clamp and press the brackets where they should be. Place them between the pencil marks you made. There are two open sides to the bracket - one should be facing you and the other should be facing the center of the window. The bracket clamp should face the room.
      • If your bracket clip is too difficult to use, try opening it with your fingers and a screwdriver.
    2. 2 Make marks where you will drill the holes. Use a pencil to mark where you need to drill the pilot holes (there should be two). You need to make two holes diagonally for the brackets to hold tight. Remove the brackets and keep the level so that the holes are in line.
      • For external attachment: brackets should be on the outside of the window frame on both sides.
      • For internal fastening: Brackets should be against the inner top corner on each side of the window.
    3. 3 Drill bolt holes. Each bracket comes with two bolts. If you are drilling holes in wood, use a drill with a 0.16 cm diameter drill so that the holes are slightly smaller than the bolts you will use to secure the brackets. Place the brackets in place and screw in the bolts.
      • If you are drilling holes in drywall, plaster, concrete, tile, stone, or brick, use the appropriate bolts, fasteners, or stops and follow the instructions provided.

Part 3 of 3: Installing the top bar and decorative cornice.

    1. 1 Lock the trim clips in place. Clips are used to attach the top bar to the eaves. A decorative cornice is what covers the top bar and gives it a more attractive look. The cornice clamps must be secured to the front edge of the plank before it is inserted into the brackets.
      • Your blinds can be made in the form of "steps" - slats. If so, secure each eaves clip in place near the top of each lamella - not directly at the top. If they are placed directly above each lamella, the cords from the blinds can get caught in the clips of the decorative cornice.
    2. 2 Place the top bar in the brackets. When you've finished screwing the brackets into place, make sure their clips are wide open and then insert the top bar into them. When you have installed the top bar, close the clamps. You should hear a distinctive click.
    3. 3 Attach the curtain rod. Position it on the top bar the way you want it to be. Leave a decorative cornice over the clamps. When you install it the way you like it, press down gently so that the clips secure the curtain rod.
    4. 4 Attach the louver control handle. If your blinds come with a handle for opening and closing, and it was not installed beforehand, install it now. Raise the plastic latch of the swing hook, insert the control handle into the hook, then lower the plastic cover.

    Tips

    • Always read the instructions supplied with your blinds.
