Rain-X is a special anti-rain agent that repels water, rain and snow from the glazing of the doors and windows of the car, including the windshield. Over time, the effectiveness of Rain-X diminishes and drips and smudges remain on the glass. Rain-X can be removed at any time with a vinegar / water solution or any cleaning agent.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Use water and vinegar
1 Use a dry soft cloth to clean the glass surface from which you want to remove Rain-X. This will help you remove dust and debris and minimize the risk of scratches during processing.
2 Pour equal parts water and white vinegar into a spray bottle. This mixture can be used to remove Rain-X from glass surfaces, as vinegar is a natural cleaning agent that will work with most commercial glass cleaners, including Rain-X.
3 Spray a mixture of water and vinegar all over the glass.
4 Using a rag, spread the vinegar solution over the glass, paying special attention to the areas where the anti-rain coating has lost its properties. If necessary, clean the entire glass surface with a rag.
5 Dry the glass surface with another soft, dry cloth to wipe off the water / vinegar mixture and any Rain-X residue.
Method 2 of 2: Use store-bought cleaners
1 Buy a special cleaner that will remove any Rain-X residue. Rain-X recommends using Rain-X Extreme Clean to remove its product from glass surfaces. Rain-X glass polish, Bar Keeper Friend detergent and polish, Pro Detailer glass repair and Astrohim AC-373 car window cleaner have also been shown to be effective in removing Rain-X.
2 Use a dry soft cloth to clean the glass surface from which you intend to remove Rain-X. This will help remove dust and debris and reduce the risk of scratches during processing.
3To completely clean the glass surface, pour a few drops of liquid dish soap into a suitable bowl or bucket
4 Pour in the required amount of water. This solution should be used to treat and wipe the entire glass surface.
5 Dip a rag in a mixture of soap and water, and then scrub the glass surface.
6 Use another dry soft cloth to wipe the soapy water off the glass surface.
7 Dampen a soft sponge or microfiber towel with water. A sponge or cloth is used as a mild polish to apply the cleaning solution to the glass surface.
8 Apply the cleaning solution directly to a sponge or cloth. Before doing this, carefully read the instructions on the detergent packaging.
9 Use a sponge or rag and rub the cleaning solution thoroughly into areas of the glass where the Rain-X coating has lost its properties, or over the entire glass surface.
10 Rinse the glass with water to rinse off the cleaning solution. To do this, you can use a spray bottle, a hose with a nozzle connected to the water supply, or a damp cloth.
11 Use another piece of soft, dry cloth to remove any remaining water from the glass surface. This will help remove any residual Rain-X.

- If you are using a commercial cleaning solution to remove Rain-X, test it first on a small area of the glass surface. This will help you determine if the product you are using is too corrosive or abrasive for the glass, thereby preventing damage to the entire surface.
