This article will show you how to register an account and set up a profile in WhatsApp on a mobile device.

Steps

Part 1 of 2: Device Verification

1. 1 Launch "WhatsApp Messenger". The application icon looks like a green square with a white dialog bubble and a phone.
2. 2 Click Accept and Continue. This means that you agree to the terms of service for WhatsApp.
   • Read the WhatsApp Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
3. 3 Enter your phone number. WhatsApp uses this number to verify the phone.
4. 4 Click Next in the upper right corner of the screen.
5. 5 Click OK to confirm the entered phone number.
6. 6 Wait for the automatic text message from WhatsApp to arrive. You will receive an SMS with a six-digit confirmation code.
   • If the message did not come, click on the "Call me" button. After that, WhatsApp will call your number and provide a six-digit confirmation code.
7. 7 Write down the six-digit code. This code will be used to verify the device.
8. 8 Enter the verification code into the app. When you enter the code, the system will automatically check and confirm your phone number.

Part 2 of 2: Setting up a profile

1. 1 Click the Insert Photo button. The circle in the upper left corner of the screen is your profile photo. Click on this button to take a photo or select an image from the gallery.
2. 2 Click on the Your name text box. This is the username that your friends will see when they receive a message from you.
3. 3 Enter your username.
4. 4 Click on Use data from Facebook. This button will display your name and profile photo from the linked Facebook account.
5. 5 Click Done in the upper right corner of the screen. You are now ready to use the WhatsApp Messenger application.
