Anchoring an object, photo, or graphic to a specific line or block of text allows it to move with the text as it changes position. We'll help you learn how to snap objects in InDesign, where users can create documents in various sizes and formats. You can move the text and you do not have to separately move the graphic objects after it.

Steps

1. 1 Buy and install Adobe InDesign. Follow the instructions to install the program and restart your computer.
2. 2 Read the instructions for using the program.
3. 3 Open InDesign.
4. 4 Open the document you will be working with. Open the File menu, Open. It is located in the upper left corner of the program. You can create a new document by clicking on the New or New option on the File menu.
5. 5 Open the text box to which you want to bind the graphic.
   • If the document does not already have text, you can print it by creating a text frame using the Text tool located on the program's toolbar. When you select the text print tool, click on the text frame to print the text in it. If you want to paste text from another document, you can do so from the File menu, Paste. Move the cursor to the position on the page where you want to insert the text.
6. 6 Anchor the graphic to the text. Use the selection tool, select the object, click Edit, then Cut.
7. 7 Place the cursor where you want to insert the object.
8. 8 Click Edit, Paste to paste the object.

1. 1 Use the Text tool to insert the desired object.
2. 2 Click Object, Object Snap, Paste.
3. 3 Specify the object anchor parameters - content, object type, style, paragraph settings, height and width.

Tips

• Object snapping can be applied to a string as well as any other piece of text. An object can be anchored so that it is in line with the text, before or after it. You can align an object to the left, right, or center of the page. You can set parameters to determine the position of the object.
• To unpin an object, open the Object menu, Object Anchor, Release.
