In this article, we are going to show you how to download a GIF (animation) file from a website to your Android device.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Using a web browser

1. 1 Go to the site with the GIF you want. If you don't know which animation to download, look for one on GIPHY or Tumblr.
2. 2 Press and hold the animation. A pop-up menu will appear.
   • If the site contains thumbnails of animations, first click on the desired animation to open it.
3. 3 Tap Save Image or Upload image. The name of this option is browser dependent. The GIF file is downloaded to your device.
   • When prompted, allow your web browser to download the file to your device.
4. 4 Find the downloaded GIF on your device. Launch the Gallery app (located on your home screen or app drawer), then tap the last photo.
   • If the downloaded animation is not in the Gallery application, look for it in the Downloads folder. To do this, launch the Downloads app (its icon looks like blue and white arrows) from the app drawer, and then tap the GIF file to open it.

Method 2 of 2: Using the GIPHY App

1. 1 Install the GIPHY app from the Play Store. This free app has tons of GIFs to download. To install this app:
   • Open Play Store .
   • Click on the search bar and enter giphy.
   • Click "GIPHY - Animated GIFs Search Engine".
   • Click Install.
   • When the app is installed, its icon will appear in the app drawer (and possibly on the home screen).
2. 2 Launch GIPHY. Click the multi-colored rectangle icon (with a cropped corner) on a black background. This icon is in the app drawer.
3. 3 Find animation. Tap the search bar at the top of the screen, enter 1-2 keywords, and then tap the magnifying glass icon. The search results are displayed.
4. 4 Click on the animation you want. It will open.
5. 5 Press and hold the animation. A pop-up window will appear asking if you want to save the GIF file.
6. 6 Tap YES (Yes). The animation will be downloaded to the Gallery app and saved to the new GIPHY album.
   • To find the GIF file, launch the Gallery app and click on the GIPHY album.
