Do you have a creepy scratch on your brand new faux leather boots? Here's how to visually correct the situation.

Steps

  1. 1 Take your shoes to a repair shop and ask if they have a suitable color for shoe paint. You can buy a small bottle of paint of any color for a nominal fee. You can choose a paint in a solid color or with an added gloss.
  2. 2 Buy a bottle of Modge Podge from the office supply store (under the adhesives section). Again, try to match the color as precisely as possible by choosing Matte, Silk or Shiny Modge Podge.
  3. 3 Buy a very small paintbrush.
  4. 4 Use nail clippers to remove excess material from the shoe.
  5. 5 Gently paint over the scratch where you want it.
  6. 6 Leave the shoes to dry and apply another coat if necessary.
  7. 7 After the paint is completely dry, use a thin layer of Modge Podge and spread it over the entire painted area. Rub the brush on a piece of paper to remove any excess, and then gently smooth the shaded area so that there are no streaks. All is ready! The flaws will still be noticeable if you look closely, but you won't see any flaws from a distance.

Tips

  • If the defect is too noticeable, try carefully painting over with wood filler or similar viscous substance.
  • It is best to use this method in places where the shoe will not bend. Paint or Modge Podge may crack when bent.

Warnings

  • Be careful not to let lint or hair get caught in the Modge Podge while drying. Once the product is dry, nothing can be changed.

What do you need

  • Paint matching color
  • Modge podge
  • Extra small paint brush
  • Optional: wood filler or viscous substance.
