If you eat a lot of bananas, you have a lot of banana peels. Instead of recycling or even composting, you can turn the peel into a fertilizer rich in potassium and phosphorus.

Steps

1. 1 Place the banana peels on a baking sheet and place in the oven.
   • Place the peel side down to prevent it from sticking to the baking sheet.
2. 2 Leave the banana peel baking sheet in the oven when you cook other food.
   • Save energy by cooking other foods in the oven at the same time. Do not turn on the oven just to fry the banana peels. Just place the baking sheet with the peel in the oven while cooking other food.
3. 3 When the banana peel has cooled, chop it up and store in an airtight container.
4. 4 Use as fertilizer. Spread the banana peel mulch around your indoor and garden plants. The roasted peel will nourish the plants as they break down.

Tips

• Use an old coffee grinder or blender to grind the rind.
• Use organic bananas. You will get a much healthier product.
• Use other ingredients along with bananas for a variety of fertilizers.
• Plant the plants in the greenhouse.
