There are endless varieties of cereals that can be used to make breakfast cereals. The most common are granola and muesli. Both are a mixture of ingredients, namely rolled oats, nuts, dried fruit and other tasty morsels. Once you try your homemade cereal, you will never buy it again.
Ingredients
Granola
- 3 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup chopped or minced almonds
- 1 cup cashews or walnuts
- ¾ cup grated coconut
- ¼ glasses of maple syrup or honey
- ¼ cups dark brown sugar
- ¼ cup vegetable oil (not olive oil)
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup raisins or other dried fruits (cherries, cranberries, etc.)
Muesli
- 4 ½ cups rolled oats
- ½ cup toasted wheat germ
- ½ cup wheat bran
- ½ cup oat bran
- 1 glass of raisins
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (almonds, walnuts, or cashews)
- ¼ cups brown sugar
- ¼ cups raw, unsalted sunflower seeds
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Granola
Granola is a baked breakfast, so it will take longer to prepare, but you will end up with a crunchy and versatile treat that can be eaten with milk or added to yogurt or ice cream.
1 Preheat oven to 250 ° F (120 ° C).
2 Combine nuts, oats, coconut, and brown sugar in a large bowl.
3 In a separate bowl, combine the maple syrup (or honey), oil, and salt.
4 Pour the syrup mixture into the oatmeal mixture and stir well.
5 Place the mixture in two shallow baking trays and place in the preheated oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
6 Stir the mixture every 15 minutes until it bakes evenly.
7 Remove the granola from the oven, transfer to a large bowl and let cool. Add raisins or other dried fruit of your choice and stir.
8 Place in an airtight container. Store for 2-3 weeks.
Method 2 of 2: Muesli
Muesli is a cereal mix that goes well with cold milk or yogurt.
1 Combine oats, wheat germ, wheat bran, oat bran, raisins (or dried fruit), nuts, sugar, and seeds in a large bowl.
2 Mix all ingredients and store in an airtight container. They will not spoil within 4-6 weeks in an airtight container.
3 Ready.
Tips
- Both types of breakfasts go well with fresh seasonal fruits.
- You can find ingredients for both recipes at most grocery stores and markets.
- Substitute coconut oil in the granola oil and add dried pineapple or banana for a tropical flavor.
- Mix muesli with kefir and refrigerate overnight for a wonderful summer breakfast.
- Lightly brown the nuts before adding to the muesli for a more nutty flavor.
Warnings
- Do not overcook the granola, it should be golden brown.
