Many homes have 5 or 6 remotes throughout the house. Sometimes they stop working and you cannot figure out what happened. Most remotes use infrared light to transmit the signal. The human eye cannot see this signal, but the camera can. This article will explain to you how to determine if your remote is transmitting a signal.

Steps

1. 1 Collect all remotes that don't seem to work for you, and a digital camera or camera phone.
2. 2 Turn on your digital camera. All you have to do is look at the digital screen during the process.
3. 3 It is not necessary to turn off all the lights (but it can be useful to see the IR signal).
4. 4 Point the remote toward the camera lens, as you would point the remote at a TV.
5. 5 Press and hold any button on the remote while looking at the camera screen. Note: some buttons may not transmit a signal by default. It's best to try the power button first.
6. 6 When you hold the button on the remote control and look at the camera screen, if you see a bluish light, it means that the infrared signal is working properly, then there is a problem with the direct connection (if it is a universal remote control, try to adjust the settings, if it does not work, then you're probably misdirecting it).
