Have you lost your keys? Have you finally got your replacement locks? In any case, you will have to reprogram the remote control. Especially on a General Motor vehicle, this can be a little confusing. Here's a simple guide to programming GM key fobs.

Steps

1. 1 Close all vehicle doors.
2. 2 Insert the key into the ignition - do not turn on the ignition.
3. 3 Press and hold the door unlock button (this is the switch on the door, NOT on the key fob).
4. 4 While holding the door lock switch in the unlock position, turn the ignition key several times to the OFF, ON, OFF, ON, OFF positions.
5. 5 Release the door lock button. The doors will be locked and unlocked once to confirm the activation of the programming mode.
6. 6 Simultaneously press and hold the CLOSING button on the door and the OPENING button on the key fob for about 15 seconds, the doors will be locked and unlocked to confirm the programming of this key fob.
7. 7 Repeat the previous step to program up to four remote controls.
8. 8 Turn the ignition key to the ON position (one more click forward) position in order to exit the keyfob programming mode.
9. 9 Operate with the key fob to check if the system is working properly.

Tips

• On some models, the first wireless keyfob will be installed in Driver 1, and the second in Driver 2.

Warnings

• The described steps do not work on the 2008, 2007 or 2005 Pontiac G6.
• Some models may require you to remove security or other protection.
