Steps

Method 1 of 5: Easy Microwave BBQ Sauce

Great if you like an easy and quick way to make a sauce

  1. 1 Place the butter, garlic, and onions in a microwave-safe bowl. Place in the microwave and cook on high heat for 2-3 minutes, until the butter is melted and the onions and garlic are tender.
  2. 2 Add the rest of the ingredients. Add ketchup, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, paprika, ground red pepper, salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly to combine all ingredients.
  3. 3 Cook in microwave on high heat for 7 minutes. Stir the sauce once or twice during cooking to ensure even heating. The sauce is ready when it is hot and thick.
    • You can also heat the sauce in a water bath. Bring water in a saucepan to a boil and place a bowl of sauce on top.
  4. 4 Mix well. Remove the sauce from the microwave. Be careful not to burn yourself. Stir the sauce well with a fork. If you don't like chunks of onion, you can add a little water to the sauce and process it with a blender or food processor.
  5. 5 Serve or store. You can use the sauce immediately or store it in a glass jar in the refrigerator until later.

Method 2 of 5: Classic Homemade BBQ Sauce

This stovetop sauce method eliminates many of the preservatives and synthetic flavors found in many ready-made sauces.

  1. 1 Sauté the finely chopped onion and garlic. Heat vegetable oil in a nonstick skillet or saucepan and sauté the onions and garlic in it until soft and slightly brown.
  2. 2 Add seasoning, molasses and sugar. Add salt, ground red pepper, cumin, coriander, molasses and sugar to the pan and stir well to combine the ingredients. Bring to a boil and cook for three minutes.
  3. 3 Add the diced tomatoes and apple cider vinegar. Stir well and bring the contents of the pan to a boil.
  4. 4 Cook over low heat for 2-3 hours. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for two to three hours. The sauce should become thick and dark.
  5. 5 Add remaining ingredients. Remove skillet from heat and add white vinegar and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. 6 Grind. Pour the sauce into a blender or food processor, add at least two glasses of water (or more, depending on the consistency you want) and stir until smooth. You can use the sauce right away or store it in the refrigerator in a glass jar.

Method 3 of 5: Savory BBQ Sauce

Spice up your sauce!

  1. 1 Place all ingredients except the chili peppers in a large saucepan or skillet.
  2. 2 Bring to a boil.
  3. 3 Add chili and reduce heat. Simmer for about 15 minutes.
  4. 4 Pour the cooked mixture into a sterilized jar or bottle. Leave ½ cm from the neck of the jar.
  5. 5 Roll up. Use lids that won't react with vinegar.
  6. 6 Store in a cool, dry and dark place. After opening the jar, store it in the refrigerator for two to three weeks.

Method 4 of 5: Alabama Style White BBQ Sauce

A quirky but delicious white barbecue sauce that is most popular in North Alabama.

  1. 1 Place all ingredients in a blender or food processor. Place mayonnaise, white wine vinegar, garlic, ground pepper, spicy brown mustard, salt, sugar, and horseradish sauce in a blender.
  2. 2 Mix until smooth. Stir in a blender for one minute, or until the sauce is smooth. You can also hand mix the sauce with a whisk or wooden spoon, but the texture will be less uniform.
  3. 3 Serve. White BBQ sauce is ready to eat; it does not require heat treatment. In Alabama, this sauce is served with fries, chicken, or as a salad dressing.

Method 5 of 5: Submission Ideas

  1. 1 Make BBQ pork ribs. The ribs are delicious with the homemade barbecue sauce. You just need to pour a lot of sauce over the ribs an hour before cooking and serve the sauce after you fry them. A dash of homemade kale salad is also a great addition to the dish.
  2. 2 Make barbecue chicken. Homemade BBQ sauce is perfect for chicken wings, breast and drumsticks. Simply place the chicken pieces in a glass bowl or dish and cover generously with the sauce. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and marinate in the refrigerator for several hours or overnight. Cook in the oven, grill, or grill.
  3. 3 Make Sloppy Joyce's BBQ Sandwiches. Homemade sauce can really spice up this dish and take it to a whole new level. Simply add the BBQ sauce to the ground beef as you cook, then place the mixture on the hamburger bun and add more sauce if desired.
  4. 4 Make a barbecue pizza. You can add flavor to your homemade pizza by replacing regular tomato sauce with barbecue sauce. Chopped chicken breast, red onion, mozzarella cheese, and freshly chopped cilantro are also great.
  5. 5 Add flavor. You can spice up your homemade barbecue sauce with just one or two additional ingredients. To make a hot BBQ sauce, add a drop of Tabasco and some diced jalapenos. For a smoky sauce, add 1/2 teaspoon of liquid smoke to each cup of sauce. For a fruity sauce, add 1 cup chopped ripe mango, 1 cup mango juice, and 2 tablespoons lime juice. The possibilities are endless!
