1 When you go to Google.com, you see a search engine with the simplest design. However, you can open advanced Google search. To do this, click on the gear icon (top right) and select "Advanced Search" from the menu.

• Search options will be displayed in the opened tab.
• String "with words" - searches for keywords.
• The string "with a phrase" - searches for a specific phrase (similar to enclosing a phrase in quotation marks in a regular search). For example, typing "WikiHow is a great site" will not appear in the search results for "WikiHow is a great site."

2 The string "with any of these words" - searches for any of the entered words (similar to inserting the OR operator between words in a regular search). For example, typing "pepper sauce" will give you results for pepper or sauce (but not pepper sauce).

3 String "no words" - excludes a word from the search (similar to entering a minus sign before a word in a regular search). For example, typing "bass music" will give you articles about bass, but not music.

4 String "with a range of numbers" - set the range of numbers of the searched subject / topic.

• Search on menu - search for pages in the selected language.
• Country Menu - Search for pages created in a specific country.
• The string "Site or Domain" - Search for a specific site (for example, wikihow.com) or domain (for example, .edu).
• File Format menu - search for pages and files of a specific format (for example, .pdf).

5 Moreover, you can search for information by the date of the update, the location of the words, the right to use.

6 Click Find to start an advanced search.

Tips

• You don't need to open the advanced search page. In a regular search string, enclose a phrase in quotation marks (“”) to find a specific phrase; put OR between words to find any of these words; put a minus sign to exclude a word from the search.
