If you're having trouble getting in touch with someone on WhatsApp, it's likely that person has blocked you. While there's no way to know for sure if you're being blocked (WhatsApp purposely hides this for privacy reasons) there are some signs you can rely on to guess what you suspect is. right or not.

Steps

  1. Open WhatsApp.

  2. Tap "Contacts". On Android, this white text icon is in the upper right corner of the screen. On iOS, "Contacts" is the gray icon in the bottom middle part of the screen.

  3. Scroll to the user you suspect blocked you.
  4. See the status of that user. If there's no status like "online" or "available" below the name, chances are that the user has blocked you.

  5. Tap on a username that may have blocked you.
    • On iOS, tap "Send Message" that appears near the bottom of the screen to open a chat window.
  6. Search for the words "last seen" (last seen). Usually this line will appear at the top of the chat window, with gray text below the user's name. If there is no last-seen moment then again is an indication that you have been blocked.
  7. Look for two ticks. When sending a message to someone, a blue checkmark will appear to the right of the timestamp in each chat frame, meaning that the message has been sent to the server. A second check mark will appear when the recipient has read the message. If the most recent messages sent to users that you think blocked you show only one tick, never two, then chances are you were blocked.
    • Just a tick is not a clear sign because in some cases their Internet connection is disconnected. However, if the second tick has not been visible for a long time but the others persist, you are most likely blocked.
  8. Touch the user's profile. You need to touch the user's name at the top of the chat window.
  9. See how the profile changes. If you were blocked on WhatsApp, the user's profile will never change. If you have reason to believe that the user has changed a profile, such as a new photo, but you can't see the change, you are probably blocked.
  10. Make your own conclusions. If you spot two or more of the aforementioned signs then it is very likely that the user blocked you on WhatsApp. advertisement
