Mozilla Firefox is a great replacement for Internet Explorer. Mozilla Firefox is faster than Internet Explorer (IE), and most corporate IT departments find Mozilla Firefox less vulnerable to viruses and malicious code. IE has been considered susceptible to security issues for many years, and even after the release of IE7, Firefox remains the top choice. This additional security measure is not just the result of becoming a less meaningful target for potential attackers. Secunia, a company known for its vulnerability reporting activities, reported much fewer issues in Firefox than IE. In addition to this, the browser runs on all major computer operating systems: Windows, Mac OS, and Linux.

Steps

1. 1 Check if you meet the minimum system requirements.
2. 2 Visit Mozilla websiteto download the latest version of the Firefox browser.
3. 3 Click on the free download link and follow the installation instructions.
4. 4 Launch Firefox browser. The first time you load Firefox, you will be presented with a selection window asking if you want to make Firefox your default browser. Select yes if you want to.
5. 5 Firefox should automatically give you the choice to import your data from Favorites, History, or other data from the Internet Explorer browser. If the window does not appear automatically, you can find this option in the File> Import menu.

Tips

• Firefox has great themes. Check them out on the Mozilla website
• If you have been subjected to a phishing attack, you can report it by clicking on Helpand then on Report a fraudulent site.
• Press Ctrl,Shift, and P... A message should appear asking you if you want to switch to anonymous mode. Click on - Yes. Your browsing history will not be saved.
• Use tabs in Mozilla Firefox. To open a new tab, click on Ctrl and T, and to open a new window, press Ctrl and N.
• The Google Toolbar for Firefox is available here.
• Firefox will also import your favorites in IE on first boot.
• Also consider downloading Thunderbird, which can be a great email program for you.
• Consider adding a wikiHow toolbar for Firefox
• Consider including bookmarks in the Firefox bookmarks bar. This can be very useful and save you time when you want to go to sites that you visit often (for example, your mail). To do this, just click on "Bookmarks", move the mouse cursor to the bookmark you want to add, click on it and drag it to the bookmarks tab, which is located immediately below the address bar, or click on the site icon in the address bar. All is ready! If next time you want to visit that site, just click on the button with the name of this site.

Warnings

• Some unsafe ActiveX websites still require Internet Explorer to display correctly. For example, OWA (Outlook Web Access). Check out the tips for downloading extensions.
