Latias is a dual type Legendary Pokemon (Dragon and Psychic). Latias cannot be caught in Pokemon FireRed, however you can honestly trade him from games like Sapphire, Ruby, and Emerald. If you do not have these games, and you do not know anyone who could exchange with you, you can only get Latias by using cheat codes.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Swapping Latias

1. 1 Reasons for the exchange. The only way to honestly get Latias in FireRed is to trade him from Sapphire, Ruby, or Emerald. Latias cannot be caught in the world of FireRed unless you enter a cheat using a Codebreaker cheat system or an emulator.
2. 2 Find someone willing to trade Latias for you, or catch him yourself in another game. In the games Sapphire and Emerald, it is the easiest to catch. As far as Ruby is concerned, you will need a ticket that is no longer available.
   • To catch Latias in Sapphire or Emerald, you first need to defeat the Elite Four. After defeating the Elite Four, you will have to find Latias, which can take a lot of time, since he appears on the map in a random order. Once you track Latias down, use the Masterball to capture him, or lower his health to a minimum and use Ultraball.    • If you are going to trade Latias with another person, you will have to offer something equally rare in return. Legendary Pokémon like Rayquaza, Groudon, Kyogre, Deoxis and Mew are ideal for trading. You can also offer to trade a whole team of well-trained Pokémon for one Latias.
3. 3 Defeat the Elite Four at FireRed. Before you can trade Pokémon from Sapphire, Ruby, or Emerald, you'll need to defeat the Elite Four at FireRed. After defeating them, you must also get Mt Ember Ruby, Ruin Valley Sapphire and Five Island Meadow Sapphire.
4. 4 Connect both games. To trade between games, you need two Gameboy Advance (GBA) consoles. You will not be able to use Nintendo DS consoles to trade.
   • You can connect two GBA devices using a GBA Link cable or GBA Wireless for each console.
5. 5 Head to the Pokémon Center in both games. To begin the exchange, talk to the person to the right of the entrance to the Pokémon Center.

Method 2 of 2: Using cheats to catch Latias

1. 1 Launch the FireRed game through the emulator or using CodeBreaker. To use cheat codes in FireRed, you either have to play through an emulator that supports cheats, or use a cheat system like Action Replay. One of the most popular emulators is VisualBoyAdvance.
   • Before entering any codes, you must first start the game. If you are playing through an emulator, you will need the FireRed ROM, which can be found on various sites on the Internet.
2. 2 Open the cheat codes list. While playing, open the Cheats menu in VisualBoyAdvance and select Cheat List. After that, a window for entering cheats will open.
3. 3 Click on the button.CodeBreaker .... Codes in Codebreaker are the most reliable way to get Latias. Clicking on the CodeBreaker ... button will allow you to enter a new code.
4. 4 Enter the master code. To find Latias, you need to enter two codes: the master code and the Latias code. First, enter the master code, which consists of two lines:

6. 6 Take a walk in the tall grass until you encounter a wild Pokémon. After entering the cheat code, all Pokémon encountered will become Latias. Latias' level will be roughly equal to the level of other Pokémon in the area.Make sure your Pokémon are ready to fight and catch him.
7. 7 Enter the cheat code to get the Masterball. Since you've decided to get Latias with cheats, you can go even further and "conjure" yourself a Masterball! This will make it as easy as possible to capture Latias, as you can throw the Masterball at the start of the fight and catch him immediately.
