Xbox One is the latest version of the Microsoft Xbox family of gaming consoles. Even if this console is much more powerful than the Xbox 360, it will be just as easy to connect to the Internet.

Method 1 of 2: Wired connection

1. 1 Buy a network cable. You will need a network cable to connect your Xbox One to the internet. Remember to check the length of the wire you want - you don't want it to be too short!
   • Your Xbox may have come with a wire, if not then you'll have to purchase one. For now, however, Xbox One consoles don't come with wires.
2. 2 Connect the network cable to the LAN port. On the back of your Xbox One (bottom right corner) you'll find the LAN port. Plug a network cable into this port.
3. 3 Connect the internet cable to an internet source. On the other hand, the network cable connects directly to the internet source. Remember, the source of the Internet can be your router or modem.
   • You may have a wall outlet with internet access.
4. 4 Turn on your set-top box. Once you've connected your wired connection, you can turn on your Xbox One. During power on and download, you should see an Internet connection indicator.
   • You can turn on your set-top box by pressing the Home button. Xbox One has voice recognition that wakes up your console with your voice, for example, when you say “Xbox On”. The Xbox One Kinect also uses biometric scanning, which enables the game console through facial recognition.

Method 2 of 2: Wireless connection

1. 1 Go to Wi-Fi. Just like the Xbox 360 Slim, the Xbox One can use a wireless internet connection. Built-in Wi-Fi 802.11n Wi-Fi Direct lets you connect to your router automatically.
2. 2 Turn on your game console. The first time you launch your console, you will not be able to automatically connect to the Internet, since it has not yet memorized the access data for your router.
3. 3 Select a signal. In the Network menu, you will be able to see the available wireless connections. Once you find your wireless network, select it, and you will have access to the Internet. You may need to enter a password to access your router. Xbox One will remember your wireless settings so it will automatically connect to the internet the next time you start it.
   • If you connect a network cable to your set-top box, it will switch to wired mode. If you want to stay connected wirelessly, disconnect the power cord from the game console.
   • You may need to adjust the wireless settings on your console if it cannot connect to the Internet. If in doubt, set the settings to automatic or simply reset to the original ones.
