Let's face it, Internet Explorer isn't the best choice for a web browser, however we always seem to stumble upon it even when other browsers are installed on the computer. But now, fortunately, we have the opportunity to get rid of it! Read on to find out how ...

Steps

1. 1 Make sure you have downloaded the web browser you intend to use before proceeding further (see the Warnings section).
2. 2 Open the Start menu.
3. 3 Go to the "Control Panel" (Control Panel).
4. 4 Select the Programs section.
5. 5 In the Programs and Features category, click the Turn Windows Features on or off option.
6. 6 Click on the "Yes" button in the UAC window that may appear depending on your settings.
7. 7 Wait a few minutes while Windows compiles the list.
8. 8 When the list appears, uncheck the folder named "Internet Explorer 9".
9. 9 A similar window should appear. Click on the "Yes" button in this window, and then click "OK".
10. 10 Wait a few minutes for Windows to apply the settings.

Warnings

• Remember to install another web browser such as Firefox, Opera or Chrome before disabling Internet Explorer. Otherwise, you will not be able to access the internet!
