Learn how to turn off wireless communications with nearby Apple devices. AirDrop uses Bluetooth on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac to create a direct Wi-Fi connection.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: On an iPhone or iPad
1 Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Control Center.
2 Tap the AirDrop button: to the right of the central part of the Control Center.
- One of the following states will be displayed under the word "AirDrop":
- Switch off;
- For contacts only;
- For all.
- One of the following states will be displayed under the word "AirDrop":
3 Tap Disable to disable. AirDrop. Until you turn it back on, your device will not receive photos or other data via AirDrop.
Method 2 of 2: On Mac
1 Open the Finder menu by clicking on the blue and white smiling face icon in the Dock. A Finder window opens on your desktop.
2 Click AirDrop under Favorites in the toolbar on the left side of the Finder window.
3 Click on "Allow My Discovery" at the bottom of the AirDrop window to display the drop-down menu.
4 Select Nobody to prevent nearby devices from discovering your Mac via AirDrop.
