If you need to clear the data in WhatsApp, then launch the WhatsApp application → click "Settings" → click "Chats" → click "Clear all chats" → return to the application.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: iOS
- 1 Launch the WhatsApp app.
- 2 Click the Settings button. It is located in the lower right corner of the screen.
- 3 Click Chats.
- 4 Click Clear All Chats. This action will delete the messages that are contained in all chats on the device.
- Select this option if you want to keep your chat history without messages so that the program takes up less memory.
- 5 Click the Settings button. It is located in the upper left corner of the screen. Now the WhatsApp data has been deleted from your device.
Method 2 of 3: Android
- 1 Launch the WhatsApp app.
- 2 Press the ⋮ button. It is located in the upper right corner of the screen.
- 3 Click Settings.
- 4 Click Chats.
- 5 Click Chat History.
- 6 Click Clear All Chats. This action will delete the messages that are contained in all chats on the device.
- Select this option if you want to keep your chat history without messages so that the program takes up less memory.
- 7 Press the ← button. It is located in the upper left corner of the screen. Now the WhatsApp data has been deleted from your Android device.
Method 3 of 3: Desktop PC
- 1 Launch the WhatsApp app.
- 2 Select a chat.
- 3 Press the v button. It is located in the upper right corner of the window.
- 4 Click Clear Chat. This action will delete the messages contained in the selected chat.
- 5 Click Delete Chat. This action will delete the selected chat and all messages it contains from the computer.
- 6 Click Finish. The contact name will be changed for all applications that use Contacts on Mac OS.
- Repeat these steps for any messages or chats you want to delete.
Tips
- Turn on chats backup to save chats to Google Drive or iCloud if you want to restore them later.
