Method 2 of 3: Quickly sauté red cabbage
1 Prepare the cabbage. Wash it under cold running water. Remove the outer coarse leaves and cut off the base of the cabbage with a knife. Cut half of the cabbage into thin slices.
2 Cook the cabbage. Preheat a skillet on the stove over medium heat. Add 2 Tbsp (30 ml) Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Add one small, chopped onion. Add cabbage. Stir, quickly fry for 3-5 minutes, until the cabbage is dry. Add 1/3 cup (80 ml) apple cider vinegar to the skillet. Sprinkle the cabbage with 2 tablespoons of sugar and stir. Season the mixture with 1 teaspoon (5 g) mustard seeds, salt and pepper to taste. Cook for another 10 minutes and serve.
Method 3 of 3: Stew Red Cabbage
1 Prepare the cabbage. Wash it under running, cold water. Dry the cabbage with a paper towel. Use a knife to cut the cabbage into 6 slices.
2 Cook the cabbage. Pour 1.3 cm of water into the pan. Bring the water to a boil. Add cabbage wedges and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Reduce heat, cover skillet with lid and simmer cabbage for 8-10 minutes. Turn the cabbage over and cook for another 8-10 minutes. Drain, place the skillet on the stove and let the water evaporate. Add 3-4 tablespoons (45-50 grams) of melted butter. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
3 Ready.
Tips
- Red cabbage can turn blue during cooking. To avoid losing its natural color, add vinegar to the water in which the cabbage is boiled.
