Learn how to follow friends, celebrities or companies on Instagram.

Steps

1. 1 Launch the Instagram app. Its icon looks like a camera with the word "Instagram".
   • If prompted, select an account and sign in.
2. 2 Open the search bar. To do this, tap the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of the screen.
3. 3 In the search bar at the top of the screen, enter the name of the person or company you want to subscribe to.
4. 4 Click on the name of the user you want.
   • If you cannot find the person you are looking for, find out what name they are registered under on Instagram.
   • If you want to follow a celebrity or company but can't find their pages, try searching them using Google.
5. 5 Click Subscribe at the top of the screen.
6. 6 Follow Instagram users who are your Facebook friends or are in your contacts:
   • go to your profile by clicking on the face icon in the lower right corner of the screen;
   • tap "⋮" in the upper right corner of the page to open additional options;
   • in the “Subscribe” section, click “Facebook Friends” to follow your Facebook friends, or click “Contacts” to follow people who are on your smartphone's contact list.

Tips

• To allow other users to view your content only with your permission, open your profile, tap the "⋮" in the upper right corner, scroll down and check the box next to the "Private account" option.
