This wikiHow teaches you how to clear local user password on Windows 7 and 10. We can only do this while using an administrator account. You cannot remove the password of an internal user because it uses the Microsoft Outlook password to sign in. Never remove anyone's account password without their explicit consent. .

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Use Control Panel

1.

   Command Prompt. The results are at the top of the Start window. A drop-down menu will appear.

   Click Run as administrator (Run as administrator). The option is near the top of the drop-down menu.
   • If the system returns an error message at the time it means that the account you are using is not administrator, so you cannot delete the password of another user.

   Click Yes when asked. Command Prompt will open.

   Import net user "username" "" into the Command Prompt. Replace "username" with your username, remember to keep quotes.
   • For example, if the account name is "JohnSmith", enter it net user "JohnSmith" "" " into the Command Prompt.
   • If the account name contains spaces (eg John Smith), enter an underscore in the space (eg John_Smith).

Advice

• If your computer is part of a network (such as at school or work), you can ask the system administrator to remove the user account.

Warning

• You must always get your written consent before removing another user's password.
• If the selected user is logged in while you delete the password, an error message will appear. You can avoid this by restarting your computer.
