Regular exfoliation is a way to remove dead skin cells that build up on the skin's surface, which can cause acne, dryness, dullness, and itching. Olive oil is a natural antioxidant that protects and moisturizes the skin. Combine olive oil with sugar, an all-natural nut, and you'll have a magic material to exfoliate. As long as you have sugar, olive oil and a few other ingredients that are probably available in the kitchen, you can create a variety of materials to exfoliate the face, lips, and body.

  • 2 - 3 chopped strawberries

A mixture of brown sugar and olive oil for lips

  • 1 tablespoon (12 grams) of brown sugar
  • ½ tablespoon (7 ml) of olive oil

Steps

Method 1 of 4: Make a basic sugar and olive oil mixture

  1. Mix olive oil with honey. Place 3 tablespoons (45 ml) of extra virgin olive oil in a plastic jar or glass jar with a lid. Stir in 2 tablespoons of organic honey until ingredients are well mixed.
    • Organic honey makes the most natural mixture, but you can also use regular honey.

  2. Add more sugar. Once the honey and olive oil are mixed, stir ½ cup (120 g) of organic sugar to the mixture. Mix thoroughly until ingredients form a granular paste.
    • You can replace regular white sugar with organic sugar.
    • Add more sugar if you prefer a mixture with more seeds.
    • If you prefer a smoother mixture, you can mix in less sugar.

  3. Massage the mixture into the skin. Use your finger to scoop out a small amount of the mixture from the jar. Rub the mixture into your skin in circular motions for about 60 seconds to gently exfoliate.
    • For very dry areas, such as elbows and feet, you can scrub for longer than 1 minute.
  4. Use water to wash off the mixture. After rubbing the mixture onto your skin, rinse it off with warm water. Gently pat the skin dry with a clean towel to complete the procedure.
    • The olive oil in the mixture helps to moisturize the skin, but if the skin is too dry, you can apply a lotion or cream to further moisturize the skin.

Method 2 of 4: Make a mixture of sweet vanilla sugar and olive oil

  1. Combines olive oil, honey, vanilla extract and vitamin E oil. Add 1/3 cup (80 ml) olive oil, 2 tablespoons (45 g) honey, 1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) vanilla extract and 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) oil vitamin E into a small bowl. Mix the ingredients thoroughly with a spoon.
    • If you prefer a different scent, you can replace the vanilla essence with your favorite essential oil. Lemon, grapefruit, and lavender essential oils are all good options.
  2. Mix more sugar. Once the liquid ingredients are mixed, stir 1/2 cup (100 g) of brown sugar and 1/2 cup (120 g) of diameter. Mix well until mixture becomes a granular paste.
    • You can use either full brown sugar or full diameter, depending on what you have in your kitchen cupboard.
  3. Rub the mixture onto your skin using circular motions. Gently massage the mixture into the skin. Rub in circular motions and be careful not to rub too hard to avoid irritating the skin.
    • You can use this mixture on the face and body. Just avoid rubbing the eye area.
  4. Use water to wash off the mixture. After you massage the mixture into your skin, rinse it off with warm water. Pat the skin with cool water to close the pores, then pat dry with a clean towel.
    • Apply a facial moisturizer or lotion after using the scrub to block moisture in your skin.

Method 3 of 4: Make a mixture of sugar, olive oil, and strawberry for the face

  1. Mix sugar and olive oil. Add 1/2 cup (120 g) of sugar and 1/4 cup (60 ml) of olive oil in a small bowl. Carefully mix the ingredients with a spoon until evenly mixed.
    • This recipe uses sugar and olive oil in a 2: 1 ratio. You can adjust the amount of ingredients as much or as little as you like.
  2. Add the chopped strawberries and pickles to the sugar mixture. Once the sugar and oil are mixed, mix 2-3 chopped strawberries into the mixture. Use a spoon or fork to pick up the strawberry in the sugar and oil mixture until all ingredients are combined.
    • Avoid mixing strawberries in the mixture too much. Strawberries can dissolve sugar particles.
    • Strawberry has a brightening effect and balances the skin.
  3. Pour the mixture into a covered container and store in the refrigerator. Once all the ingredients are mixed, scoop the mixture into a jar or container with a lid. Store the mixture in the refrigerator to keep it fresh for up to 2 weeks.
  4. Massage the mixture onto dry skin. Use clean fingers to massage the mixture on dry face skin. Rub the mixture into skin in circular motions and gently exfoliate dead skin cells.
    • Be careful, don't rub too hard. The skin on the face is quite thin and can be easily irritated if you rub it vigorously.
  5. Rinse off the mixture with water and dry your face. After scrubbing the exfoliating mixture, rinse it off with warm water. Use a clean towel to gently dry your face and apply serums, moisturizers, and / or other products you use frequently.
    • You can use this mixture 1-2 times per week to brighten your skin.

Method 4 of 4: Mix a mixture of brown sugar and olive oil for lips

  1. Mix brown sugar and olive oil. Add 1 tablespoon (12 grams) of brown sugar and 1/2 tablespoon (7.5 milliliters) of olive oil in a small bowl or plate. Mix the two ingredients until blended.
    • You can adjust the amount of olive oil. This just keeps sugar together, so you can use less than 1/2 tablespoon of oil.
  2. Rub the mixture on your lips. Once the sugar and olive oil are mixed, gently rub the mixture on your lips with your fingers. Massage the mixture for 30-60 seconds to remove dead skin.
    • Use this mixture once a week. When the lips are heavily chapped during the cold winter months, you can use it twice a week.
  3. Wipe off the mixture with a damp cloth. After massaging the mixture into your lips, soak the towel in warm water and gently wipe your lips clean.
    • Be sure to apply lip balm to soothe and moisturize your lips.

Advice

  • If you don't have sugar in your kitchen, you can use fine-grained sea salt to replace the sugar in any recipe.
  • While regular exfoliation is good for your skin, don't use it more than 1-2 times per week. The skin can get irritated easily if the skin is exfoliated too much.

Warning

  • Although they all contain natural ingredients, the above mixtures can still cause skin reactions. It is best to have an allergy test done before using it on large areas of skin. Dab a small amount on the inside of your wrist and wait 1-2 minutes before rinsing it off. Wait 12-48 hours, and if there's no reaction, you can use the mixture.
