Do you love watching movies but can't afford the original disc? If so then luck still smiles at you because you can download movies for free. Here are the steps.

Part 1 of 3: Finding Free Movies

1. 

   Use a torrent search engine. The torrent search engine searches for the keyword the user enters and displays the torrent files that match or are related to that keyword.
   • Enter the name of the movie you want to search for in the search engine. If you do not know the exact name, you can type in keywords. Click the "Search" button and scroll down to see the same results as other standard search engines.
   • After finding potential results, click on the link to access the file.

   Check out some legitimate free movie collections. For a more secure access to the free movie repository, try accessing reputable databases. Besides being safe and legal, the free database also offers a variety of viewing and download options, so you can download great movies without torrents.
   • With many collections, you will find the option to download the movie in a torrent or other format. For example, you can download Flash Video or Ogg Video format movies.
   • Note that all movies have a "Public Creation license", meaning that they belong to the public domain, which can be legally viewed or downloaded by anyone.

   Consider watching online instead of downloading. While not like downloading free movies, some websites allow you to watch online if you have an internet connection. Also, the movie downloads take a lot of time, so this can be faster.
   • You only need to be connected to a good internet connection when watching movies online. If the connection is slow or drops the network, you may not be able to watch the full movie without reloading the page or waiting for the movie to play.
   • Here are some popular and reputable movie streaming websites:

Part 2 of 3: Working with Torrents

   Understand how torrents work. The torrent protocol allows users to share large files with others by splitting files into sections. These pieces are assembled by a special torrent program when the download is finished.
   • One advantage of using torrents is that if the connection is interrupted, you don't have to start over, but start downloading again.
   • The tracking torrent server monitors whether you are sharing files or just "leech" (downloads) from other users. The more you share, the more bandwidth available, and vice versa.

   Download a torrent program. You need to download a torrent program to download each small pieces and assemble them into a large movie file.
   • Torrent files stored on the Web provide only the folder where the movies are located. You need a torrent program to locate and download movies based on that directory.

   Save the torrent file to your device. After finding the torrent file under the step "Find Free Movies", click "save" or "download" to save the original torrent file to your computer. Downloading this file is quick but it is not a complete movie.
   • If you use torrent search communities like isoHunt, check the reviews and comments before downloading files. This is done to ensure that the downloaded file is not corrupted.
   • You can check the number of downloads to see if the file is good or not. The higher the number of downloads, the more likely the result will be.
   • When you save a torrent file from the web, you save it as a text file. The file will lead to the movie you want to download, and only the torrent software will read the file and download the movie accordingly.

   Open the torrent file in your torrent program. When you start the program, go to the torrent file and open it. The program will start downloading the movie.
   • When you open a torrent file, the program will read the instructions in the file and locate the file to download.
   • Each program has a different way of opening a file, but usually you click "Open" in the "File" menu and go to the file you just saved.
   • Note that you can choose where to download movies to your computer. Otherwise, the movie will be saved in the default download folder.

   Wait for the movie to download. Exact speed depends on the size of the file and the network connection. You will need to download the complete torrent file to view the movie on your computer.

Part 3 of 3: Watch Movies Just Downloaded

   Watch movies on computer. This is the simplest option. Watching movies on your computer, you just need the software to open the video.
   • Convert if necessary. If the program on your computer can open and view the original file, you do not need to change the format. If not, you will need to convert to another format for the program to recognize.
