Instagram has quickly become the most popular social network for viewing the photos people share and admiring landscapes around the world. Viewing photos from Instagram on your phone is also interesting but not enough, sometimes you want to download a photo you like so that you can open it at any time. While it's not possible to download photos directly from the Instagram app, there are a few other ways you can get photos to your phone or computer.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Upload Photos via Intermediate Website & Apps
You know that there is no direct way to download photos from Instagram. To protect copyright of photos, Instagram does not allow you to upload photos of other users directly on the app. This can be a bit inconvenient, but keep in mind that it is intended to prevent others from stealing your work.
- Never download or use another person's photo for profit.
- Always include the author's name when using other people's photos.
- Legally, only Instagram can upload photos from the app and sell them to advertising agencies.
Use a website not affiliated with Instagram to upload photos of other users. Search for the keyword "download other Instagram users' photos" to choose a website you can use. These sites allow you to search for any username and upload their photos without any hassle. Find the user you need, then click on the photo. At the bottom of the page is a button for you to "Upload Image".- These sites work well on web browsers of mobile devices, and soon you will be able to use the Instagrabbr app.
- Try instagrabbr.com or "Free Instagram Downloader", both of which are recommended by CNET.
Download the photo download app to access your friends' photos. Search "Download photos from Instagram" (Save Instagram) to find the appropriate application. These applications are available on iOS and Android, you will be asked to log into your Instagram account and allow "access". Once you agree, you can download any photo on your Instagram timeline or photos of your friends.- Allowing access means that Instagram has the right to get information from your account.
- Sometimes these apps become outdated with phone updates so try a different one if you have technical problems.
- A few good ones are InstaSave, SaveGram, Instagrab, GramDrive Downloader, My InstaAlbum, and many others.
Method 2 of 3: Upload photos via Instagram.com Page
Log into Instagram.com. While most users access Instagram by phone, instagram.com allows you to access it from any computer, which makes it even easier to upload photos.- You need to create an account on the Instagram app before logging in.
Find the photo you want to download. Instagram web interface only displays photos from people you follow, and does not allow you to view other photos. Again, this is for the copyright protection of photographers.
- You can view other users' profiles even if you haven't followed them yet. Please add their username in the space provided in the following link: http://instagram.com/___________.
Redirects the image to be loaded to a specific page. Click on the gray three dots (...) usually located in the bottom right corner of each image or below the "Comment" section. When you click, you'll see the following "Report as Inappropriate" and "View Photo Page". Click "View Image Page".
In the Firefox browser, separate the image by clicking "View Background Image".) Right-click on the photo and select "View Background Image", a new page containing only pictures will appear.
In the Chrome browser, separate the image by clicking "Inspect Element". It sounds complicated, but it's easier than you think. Right click on the photo and choose "Inspect Ingredients". A table containing a lot of HTML will appear on the side of the browser, with a small section highlighted in blue. The image to look for is a long, random string of characters that begins with "https: //" and ends with ".webp."
- Right click and copy highlighted code. Paste them into your web browser.
- Delete all leaving only the image code. Include "https: //" and ".webp."
- Press enter. The photo will appear and you can download it to your device.
Download photos to your computer. Right-click on the photo and choose "Upload Image As". You can name the photo and choose where to save it.
- By default the photo will be saved to the Photo Library, or "My Photos," with the name of a series of numbers and letters.
Capture your screen if you're not using an app or a website. Although this takes longer, it is possible to take the photo you like by pressing "Prt Sc" (on Windows / Linux) or pressing "Command", "Shift", and "3. "(on Mac). The screenshot of the entire screen is saved to the clipboard. Paste this image into an image editing tool like Photoshop, paint, or Light room by pressing "Ctrl" / "Command" and "V". You can then save the image.
- You will have to cut out the excess screen capture to get the image you want.
Method 3 of 3: Backup (Back up) your Instagram photos
Besides, you can use the Instagram backup page to upload all your photos at once. There are tons of websites out there that help to bulk, secure, backup photos with your account. They allow you to keep a copy of the photo in case your Instagram account is deleted. Search for the keyword "Instagram Backup" and choose the website that's right for you.
- Suitable sites for Instagram backup include Instaport and FrostBox.
- Sometimes there will be slight variation in languages or features between websites, but you can still apply the following general instructions to every backup site.
Provide your Instagram username and password for that site. This will allow the site to access your photo and prevent others from downloading it without your permission.
- Beware of any requests to post on your Instagram or requests to provide more personal information.
Choose a method to save images. You can download photos in zip format or send them via Facebook or Flickr. If you click the Advanced Options button you can limit downloaded images by date, number or photo you like.
- If you choose the photos you like, the photos will be scaled down to a maximum resolution of 612 x 612 pixels.
Click on "Start Downloading Photos" (Start Export). This will take a few minutes, depending on the number of images you need to download. When it's done, you'll have a folder containing all the photos from Instagram.
- If you cannot find the photo, check your "Downloads" folder.
Remember that Instagram saves each photo you take. When you take a photo on the Instagram app, the photo is saved in the "Camera Roll" for later use. This means you always have a copy of your photo on your phone. You can even ask Instagram to save the photo before adding a filter:
- Open your profile page by tapping the silhouette portrait icon in the bottom right corner of the application screen.
- Click the Gear icon located in the upper right corner of the profile page to open the settings.
- Enable the "Enable Original Photos" function. You may have to scroll down the settings page to find this feature.

- There are a variety of apps, free and paid, that allow you to view photos from Instagram beyond your phone screen.
