This wikiHow teaches you how to create a website server on your computer. You can do this on both Windows and Mac computers using the MAMP server builder program, however, you will need to take some steps first to make sure your computer is eligible for hosting (hosting) the server.

Part 1 of 3: Preparing to host website

    Close and reopen MAMP. Click Quit, then click on the MAMP icon again to reopen the program.

    Click Start Servers on the right side of the MAMP window. The MAMP server will start up with your website source code and customize your port. The site will be back up and running; People can enter your public IP address into a search engine for access.
    • Unless you purchase a dynamic IP address service, the local IP address along with the website address will change over time.
    • You cannot use the local IP address to view the website if you are connected to your home network because the system will only open the page of the router.

Advice

• Although MAMP offers the option to automatically reset the port, you can also open port 80 on your router's firewall manually.
• Web hosting services are very cheap (some services are not up to 100,000 VND / month). These services also offer better protection than self-hosting. Therefore, web hosting is a much better choice if you have a monthly budget devoted to this.

Warning

• When self-hosting, your website may crash if the computer loses network connection, power outage or system fails.
• Note that if you self-host on your computer, your website will respond much slower than using traditional web hosting.
