This article guides you to hide the notification bar on your Android phone using a feature hidden in stock Android, such as Android versions on Google's Nexus or Pixel phones, as well as know how to use a third-party application called GMD Full Screen Immersive Mode to hide the Android notification bar.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Use System UI Tuner on stock Android

1.

Method 2 of 2: Use a third party app

1. 

   Download GMD Full Screen Immersive Mode from Play Store. The Play store is a multicolored triangular icon in the app tray. Here's how to install the app:
   • Find GMD Full Screen Immersive ModeThen select it in the search results.
   • Touch INSTALL (INSTALLATION) in the home page of the application.
   • Touch ACCEPT (ACCEPT) to give permission for apps to run on your device.

   Open GMD Immersive. The icon is gray and the two curved arrows are located in the application tray.

   Set the switch to On. If this switch is already on (green), you can skip this step.

   Tap on the third rectangle icon. This icon is at the top of the screen, right next to the switch. This is the step to hide the notification bar and navigation icons (if available in the device) at the bottom of the screen. A bright red line will now appear on the bottom edge of the screen.
   • To restore the notification bar, simply swipe up from the red line at the bottom of the screen.
   • If you want to hide the bar again, tap the red line or the third rectangle icon.
