This wikiHow teaches you how to open Explorer on a Windows computer. On Windows 8 and 10, the application is called "File Explorer", and in Windows 7 and Vista it is called "Windows Explorer".

Steps

Method 1 of 2: On Windows 8 and 10

1. 

   . Click the Windows logo in the lower left corner of the screen, or press the key ⊞ Win.
   • On Windows 8, hover your mouse pointer over the top-right corner of the screen, then click the magnifying glass icon.

   File Explorer. This folder-shaped application will appear at the top of the Start window. File Explorer will open.
   • When File Explorer opens, you can "pin" an application to the taskbar to launch File Explorer with just one click. Right click on the File Explorer icon

     

     at the bottom of the screen, then click Pin to taskbar (Pin to taskbar).
